Tbh - plugs do 20k, we're out of the days of plugs wearing fast due to imperfect combustion... ie. carbed motors!! Air filter is easily good for 20k too. Oil and filter every 5k. Lot more to a car than just the engine though... which is why I always use a garage as they'll check the things like the brake lines, suspension bushes, exhaust hangers, etc..!
