RobMk6
If a person is going through a claim with one insurance company and the renewal is mega expensive can they choose to renew with another company even if the claim is still pending with the original company? to simplyfy, can you change insurance companies in the middle of a claim, E.G i'm insured with churchill but i have a crash that isn't a simple payout claim, my insurance year is almost up and churchill decide to whack up my premium, can i say no thanks on the renewal bit and go with another company? JC
I had a similar thing when I renewed my insurance few years back, as the insurance company had not settled a claim i decided to stay with them, as thats what some one suggested at the time, but i don't know of a real reason why you shouldn't change companies? Surely they would still have to continue with the claim? (might be better suited in the insurance section )
Pete
I *think* you can change companies, but you should let the new company know you have a claim pending.
RobMk6
shows how long its been since i been on here properly lol, didn't even realise there was an insurance section, if a mod could move it we know they have to continue with the claim but we're just having a discussion regarding changing companies
Lee_2f2f
Rob, Yes you can accept a cheaper renewal mate. Look at it this way, the Claim happened when he was insured with 'X' Insurance company so they have to deal with it, if he renews with someone else, 'X' still has to deal with the claim as it occured when he was with them

ChrisKnottIns
Hi Yes, from an official viewpoint, there is no problem in moving insurers in the middle of a claim. You pay for a year's contract so they are obliged to assist you. We do get people coming to us in the same situation so yes, please give us a call at renewal.
