Squav
So I'm looking at selling my Escort Finesse/GTi Rep as it's on Pistonheads as we speak. Now, I was looking at getting a Saxo VTR, but after looking at the quote I got for it off my insurance I've decided not to pay £517 extra on top of the £2000 I'm already paying for my insurance Now, these are the options I have: Mk5 Fiesta Zetec S - £120 insurance refundMk1 Focus 1.6 - £120 insurance refundMk1 Focus 1.8 - £20 insurance refundMk1 Focus 2.0 ESP - £20 extra premium for the year.Mk6 Escort GTi - £100 insurance refundCorsa B 1.4 Sport - £65 insurance refundPeugeot 106 GTi - £320 extra premium for the year. Can anyone else suggest anything? Edited April 9, 2009 by Squav

hamspeed
Well i'm looking at Focus's 1.8's/ 2.0 esp's at the moment if thats any help... I don't know why your premiums are so high, i'm pretty much the same age and my premiums are less then half yours? I don't know much about Fiesta Zetec's though they seem to rate pretty high among the clubs. The 106 GTI is a great little car though its getting on a bit now and most of them have been thrashed, you'd have to spend a lot to buy a looked after one. Corsa/ VTR - Self explanatory really, a no go for me! Buying Japanese is always good at this point for reliablity though most cars are a bit dull for my liking... Considered a 206 XSI? Same 1.6 16v engine as the VTS only a much nicer package and a lot lighter on the insurance...

I'll see how much a 206 XSi will be on insurance.
fRoG
I would go for a Focus 1.8 or 2.0 although my mates got a 106 GTI for sale atm and it is pretty rapid and looks the part too.
bluliz
Focus MK 1.5 TDCI sport? Mk1 or Mk2? Its a mk1.5, the facelift. indicators moved to the headlights and the bumpers gor rub strips on the corners are the 2 easiers things to notice. Started on 51, but beware lots of non facelifts on 02 and 52 plates. TDCI Sport would be awesome!!
mattnewlove2002
I would get the focus mk1. The 1.8 is a cracking motor, my dad had one for 3 years and had built proof reliablity. How comes u selling the 'scort mate insurance?

bluliz
Its basically the Diesel version of the ST170 but without the power or brakes. Same foglights, blackwaffle and half leather! http://southwellweb.co.uk/carwise/IMG_2508Focus-ft.gif

How comes u selling the 'scort mate insurance? Fancy something quicker, 1.6 Escort is getting annoying for power. Its basically the Diesel version of the ST170 but without the power or brakes. Same foglights, blackwaffle and half leather! Sounds good, what sort of price do these go for? As I'm looking at the £2000 - £2500 mark realistically. hamspeed
It was about £400 cheaper for me? Hmm guess thats out the window, as said i'd probably go for the Focus in that case, i'd go for a petrol over a diesel one though... A) because the price of diesel compared to Petrol, and b) You'd need to do a lot of mileage per year to get the best of it.

Craig855S
Focus 2.0 ESP,the TDCI sport,or the 106 GTi are all good choices. The 106 Gti is a little go kart,if ur gonna do a lot of country road blasting then this is the car i'd pick, for anything else id go focus. Diesel if ur wallet needs it or 2.0 ESP if ur not bothered about MPG
