shawdreamer
i am about to respray my rs front bumper and am comfuzzled as to what to do with the chrome strip on bumper also not sure what to do with the little black rubber corner bits anyone any ideas its for a imperial blue mk5b cabriolet and finally what colour to do the mesh or leave it black get rid of the chrome entirely and fill and smooth the recess left. mesh=black please dont go silver it looks tacky on a near standard motor imo Edited April 20, 2009 by shawdreamer
nickblackburn82
silly question i suppose but how easy is it to fill the recess im no expert and dont want it to just fall out or crack and mesh is definately now staying black just seen one with silver mesh uuuurrrrrgggghhhhhh
shawdreamer
filling is easy enough, follow the tin instructions and with a bit of advice on finishing from fellow evo'ers you'll be right good man on the mesh

nickblackburn82
right off to shop it is nice tin of filler to spend all night inhaling me thinks
madxrcabby
wouldnt just slap filler on them or it'll crack like hell with the slightest bit of a knock or any pressure when cleaning the bumper etc , use black mesh and the rubber bits on the corner pull off
nickblackburn82
what about using fibreglass
sortedford
Dont mess around, pull the strip off, give it a good going over with glass paper to give the fibreglass something to stick to, and then put some screws in, about 20cm intervals, as this will give it somethign to grip onto. Fiberglass it with the paste you buy, then skim with filler. Do this to the lines on the side too, and get a mk6 bumper fo finish off the smooth look
nickblackburn82
been busy today had same idea with screws ive just finished applying fibreglass i already planned to do the little grooved bits on the side just looking for a simple subtle splitter to finish it off
