[ . D a r k // ]
i was probably doing 20mph MAX when i hit into the back on a VW Bora/Passat, but was skidding, no abs, but the dub was hardly damaged at all, just a lil dent in the bumper and a bent exhaust, my escort crumpled like wet cardboard! well surprising. i would hate to be in one doing 50-60 and hit a wall! im definately not buying another escort, i want a lancer! shame my insurance would cripple me....off to get some quotes now oh yeah and the airbag didnt go off..... a mate roled his focus st170 last weekend, his airbag didnt go off to :/ do any airbags in fords work? lol Yeah they do go off. My mate stuffed his escort into a ditch and both driver and passenger doggy bag went off.
shawdreamer
Yeah they do go off. My mate stuffed his escort into a ditch and both driver and passenger doggy bag went off. rolled my ST back in 04 and the bags didnt go off either.....but then again it was rolling.....not cartwheeling, I doubt the front airbags would go off rolling sideways, there'd be no point about two monthes after that my brother-in-laws brother (yes that does sound weird) nudged a wooden ballard at no more than 10mph when parking his ST (said he didnt see the ballard till he was turnig into the space at the pub) and both airbags went off..... despite no one being in the passenger seat too . had to laff..... his nose literally burst....blood was up both drivers and passenger window aswell as a quite asthetically shaped blood splat on the airbag. his front bumper bent inwards but wasnt distorted to greatly once he reversed off the ballard and you could only really note it if you looked closely
Chicane16v
Jesus mate, I feel for you. I have had a few really close calls lately – not down to me, just inevitable to run into some dickheads with the mileage I am doing at the moment. And these close calls made me think what I would do if mine ended up like yours. I considered getting another Escort and transferring over the parts, like the leather interiors, headlight covers, cd player, alloys etc. But to be honest mate, the price of cars at the moment, you can pick up much nicer and more reliable cars for the same price as Escorts. And its becoming increasingly harder to find good condition – rust free – low mileage escorts now. And those you do find have a price tag. If you fix yours up, it will never look as good as before – and will not be the same car again. While you don’t know what other damage is lurking and waiting to show in the future. It also sounds like you have lost love for the escort. Follow another car dream I say, and break escort.
