Insurance question, Engine query

Right iv spotted a 3 door escort cheap at a salvage yard and it is fitted with a 1.3 hcs engine, Now if i where to fit a 1.6 zetec engine and declared it all to the dvla for log book purposes.

When the car is to be insured and i give in the reg of the car would it come up as a 1.3 or a 1.6 as i don't want to have it classed as a modification and have higher insurance price.

Any ideas chaps ?

if you let the DVLA know then when you get a insurance quote it will come up as a 1.6 zetec, because it will be on the DVLA database which is where the insurance companies get the information from

It wouldn't necessarily cost more than a non-modified car of the same displacement. Why not speak to an insurance company and get the facts instead of internet rumour?

I worked for 2 insurance companies, One for 3 years & the other for 2, Ginger Dave is 100% Correct Stu.

 

The insurance company get there vehicle details from a system called MID Search which reads the details from the DVLA Unit.

No matey im having a mission to find a 1.6 3 door, and i spotted a 1.3 in a salvage yard so thats where the idea came from. You see i dont want to spend loads on the base car only to rip it to shreds for when i fit my cossie arches so the 1.3 sounds perfect.

I would say search for a 1.8SI they are more common.
