Hi all

Quick update, should have the Koni suspension with -35mm Eibach springs I bought from Danposs this week and will be put on at the weekend if time permits! I have a list below of what else I have planned, so anything I have forgotten or should do then please comment.

Thanks

Bonet liner (black carpet thing underneath)

O/S headlight due to broken mount

Rear Window tinted to match the side windows, after changing my tailgate to one with no rust only green tinted.

Half tint rear lights

Number plate screws (all rusty)

Colour coded door handles (thx to Mike for supplying them FOC, just need painting)

Paint the rear drums

Repairs to both rear arches due to bubbling

Plans sound good mate! Any plans for a wheel change? Or are you keeping the 15inch GTi ones?

Cheers mate :thumb:

I sure would love to, depends if I can get them at a good price tbh. 16" is big enough for me so i will look out for the mondey's on the bay! On another note had the Konis delivered and just got a quote for the suspension to be fitted and was told £100. Not sure if thats good considering the springs are pre-installed, what do ya reckon?

Thx

Paul

Doesn't sound too bad a price. That a garage fitting them? I'd say its good. Look forward to seeing the drop on your car as i'm looking into it for mine once i've got the exhaust adjusted. :)

Yeah thats at a garage, I thought yours was lowered already, must be the bigger wheels or more likely my eyesight lol. Hey theres nothing wrong with the exhaust, leave as is because there is not much room for adjustment. I had to mod mine due to a broken hanger on the rear pipe, just used a G-clamp and hooked it through the rubber.

Nah mines standard height mate :) With my exhaust, when i have passengers the pipe catches the rear beam and vibrates so hoping i can get it adjusted slightly? But i done have many passengers lol

dont you have the tools to do it yourself? as you have pre-assembled struts it will take you 15-20 mins a corner depending how rusty some bolts are. mines taking time to lower as i was doing wishbones too and fitting new shocks and coils and had to assemble them, that and i'm slow :P

Ok another update

Following on from yesterdays delivery of shocks and springs I am please to also say they are now on the car! What a difference it has made to the overall feel of the car. Handling is superb around corners. Not to hard either as I have set them so its softest setting, hope you enjoy the pictures, I think it needs time to settle as Dan has the suspension removed for a while.

Looking great mate! 16 inch mondeo alloys and it will looks even better! Are the windows tinted? They look dark?

Thx mate

Yeah your right I will now look out for the 16" wheels, but in no rush as I need the arches on the rear re-done first! The windows were as I got it and it says on them tinted so they must have been like that from the factory! Happy days :thumb:

Paul

Softest setting!!! :O

Get them stiffened up now and enjoy the corners :P

Also look into colour-coded door handles.

Hi Dan

I will try the hardest setting tomorrow and report back! MikeM kindly donated some door handles for me to paint, so watch this space for the update. Thanks again for the suspension mate, look forward to your next project!!!

Your windows definately look darker than mine! Looking forward to some more updates :thumb:

Thanks mate

Any changes to yours on the horizon? I have my mot next week and i am pretty sure it will fly through, due to the amount of work thats gone into it. But you never know what they might find!

My next planned move is to have the windows tinted. Then refurb the alloys, undecided on colour at the moment. Also got a few bits i need to finish, dash insert, rocker cover, headlights lol Plenty to do

Mine passed the mot without any problems, sure yours will be ok mate :thumb:
