My Ford Escort 1.4

Strikey

Recommended Posts

Yes a bit late as i did say i was going to post changes this morning but here we are with the updates i used my normal camera but scaled down the images so they do not take 20 minutes to load up ;)

Here is the gear panel

Replaced leather and spray painted the plastic surround to a bright orange. I have a new gear nob that lights up with the red escort logo but that has not been fitted yet.

New Speakers

My new mirrors love them compared to the stock mirrors as the old ones where broken anyway

Cleaned the area where the alarm was

My K&N Air Filter

Now i know these are nothing special but i didn't fancy buying alloys just yet, brand new alloys on a rust bucket just don't go together. So leaving them till i get a little further with the car and get the brakes sorted.

New Exhaust, it will do for now needed the old one replacing as it was well lets just say it's smoking days where over. I plan on a full stainless when the car is on the road and i get the body sorted!

Primed and sprayed is the dashboard needs a little more paint in some places but nothing major.

So thats it for now was planning on cleaning up the engine but going to leave that till i have a day when i am like really bored and need something to do as i dont have the patience to clean it right now unless someone has a power jet they fancy lending me and i will get some gunk lmao.

All feedback welcome and advice :D

i wasnt going to be the first to say about the orange lol i remember when i first started driving (i say it as if im vastly experienced lol im only 19) and me and my mate sprayed every panel in our cars lol i actually sprayed the inside of my dash surround "ford Matisse blue" and my friends punto went black red white on the inside haha we quickly realised its not a good look and gloss black or colour coded on the inside to match the outside is the best

I duno i think it makes the car look more attractive and less old school and cost barely anything to do it. Lightens up the car instead of the original old school stuff. I may take back my word in time and you may get me thinking the same but it will just spray over in the future if i did change my mind i guess :)

yes thats what i mean either respray if i did change my mind or trip to scrappers lol.

Erm not too sure whats next on the agenda waiting for my handbrake cover to come and handle then will be fitting that and the dashboard then will take it from there probably rear speakers next and perhaps a decent amp and sub and a rev counter.

Any Ideas?

changing the lights around do make a difference i.e. tints or lexus lights like my half tints there a nice addition and cost me like a tenner on ebay. rather than getting some "brand new" alloys as you say it be best to get some ford ones i.e. like the escort GTI ones or RS2K ones and then spray them cars look better a bit "OEM" rather than "MR BOMBASTIC" theses days and a very cheap mod is removing the bumpstrips all it takes is patience and a hair dryer

the joys of modified cars is doing what you want. orange not to my taste but looks fun :D

you can do few simple things to up lift the appearence, colour code the door handles/wing mirrors, fogged front bumper probably now go for tinted headlights and tail lights, de-rub strip, light lowering (not on the floor unless you live somewhere with no speed bumps/pot holes, e.g not england :P)

i personally think graphite grey mondeo ST turbines would look good and i conviniantly am selling a set

Yes was going to get the lights done once body work was done and i duno not too keen on the oem alloys i have got my eye on some already and have for some time now i really like them. As for the bumpstrips sounds like a good idea do they come off quite easily?

Yes it looks different in my eyes lol and yes not a bad idea although liking the carbon fibre mirrors as they are yes need it lowering it would make it look better. haha yes bumps all over the place so not too low haha
