GazSi
Focus 1.6 lx, group 5 insurance or Vauxhall astra 1.6 8v mk4 there only group 4, insurance was only £100 dearer for the year than my 1.3 ford ka, the focus will be a tad more but its alot better car, my zetec is a group 6, 1.6 engine, you can pick up a early focus in good shape for a grand, the early mk6 fiestas are cheap to insure aswell but there bad mpg
stevmo3691
can i just defend the k-series.not a bad engine - flawed cooling system - they were designed for race use - hence needing to rev the nuts off them (god knows why rover used them)bear in mind the original elise has k-series, alot of track special cars (ariel atom before they did the honda vtecs)rover just badly designed the front so didnt get enough air flow to keep it cool and radiators have a pants joint that fails really easily.my 95 rover 214sei (same 1.4 engine as the ZR105 - 103bhp) had 80k when i sold it and engine was sweet as a nut. head had never gone. gearbox lost synchro on 1st and 2nd though but thats a pug/rover joint op so its the french's fault if you want a ZR for less insurance get a rover 25 1.4 and add the bits off a ZR (you know, much like the GTI rep thing with your escort)only use the 16" wheels as 17's tramline on them some suggestions:123 1 - ZS rep2 - evo 2 rep (i think its called evo 23 - prob not that one but can go wrong with VTEC

Jordan99940
save up till you have more money and more NCB no one asked for a sensible answer john where has your sense of adventure gone. this is the perfect time we all act as experts on cars saying "have this car its cheap to buy great fun on the track and you can carry your shopping in it!" but you have just been sensible there BOO YOU i know i saw the ESP 2.0 ones about same spec as gti escort too but hard to find a good price one. still think 306 D Turbo thou i got mine when i had it for under a grand! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ford-focus-2L-esp-mo...=item3cb0c90884http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/25432.jpgproves your point
stevmo3691
Them civics are just a rover 400/45 lol, a rover with a honda engine tho will be very reliabe tho, the old 200 series used them back in early 1990sthats because they were co-developed and the rover 416 auto uses honda 1.6 (non vtec) they are well built cars - my brothers 99 rover 416si is in the hands of a complete idiot. he cant drive, never cleans it, smokes in it, carries model planes and fuel for them, bashes into stuff, ignores things, breaks things when attempting to do stuff, has a scrape down the drivers side where my brother got stuck in a carp park and caught edge of drivers door, rear door and arch and that was 3 years ago, we tidied it up a bit and painted the arch but not that well.things still going and there is no signs of that cancer that is rust bar bit bubbling at bottom of doors because the drain in bottom are blocked because he drives through fields and never cleans it.
