Whats the issue with the TDCi injectors and fuel pumps? I take it its not as simple as just pulling them out and replacing?

If only! lol, the injectors are coded to the ecu, and are about £250 each from ford plus the price of coding them, also the pump is about £500 just to get it refurbed, it soon adds up :( plus the £500 for a clutch and flywheel when that goes :(

EACH?! Jesus! What the hell are they made of? Excuse the ignorance - but why are they coded to the ECU in the first place? And £500 to refurb a fuel pump? What ever happened to fords being easy and cheap to fix? Bring back the escorts!

Well......that is an option, but i need a car to get about in, being carless was doing my nut in.

Im going to have another bash at it in the new year, my next port of call will be getting the injectors coded.....and if that works il sell the bugger on or trade it into a garage.

Aye :(

The injectors in common rail cars are very complicated and are designed to run to such fine tolerances......From what i understand each injector has its own code and the ecu needs to be told what injector it where they are all different :S

Nobody knows enough about them:( Dan from fast ford has had nothing but problems with his.....untill he took it to Delphi(who make the fuel system)

Pft - and you all take the pee out of Rovers...

Im with Tez on this one, Id be looking around at scrappies to see if there are any mondies that you could grab the fuel rail/injectors/ecu from - can you even teach the alarm fobs to the ECU or do you need Ford to do them, too?

I would be if i wasnt on the Isle of Wight.....our scrappies over here only have things like escorts and mk2 mondeos in :(

I shouldnt have any problems getting the injectors coded to the car, i have a few contacts :D

Il see next month when there isnt so many bank holidays in the way lol

Well ive got a bit of an update with the focus :) Last week the bloody clutch slave cylinder/release bearing went pop and i lost my clutch (N)

So i hunted about and got a new clutch, pressure plate and slave and set about fitting it, while the box was out i also stuck a new DMF in there so its like new again :) While i was waiting for the clutch bits to turn up i had a go at heat wrapping the exhaust manifold and im pretty happy with the outcome :)

I also had a little play about with the brakes :D i bought some 320mm ASBO brakes for the mondeo just before it broke so i thought i would take them back off and make them fit the 4 stud focus :D
