wwwd
Apple are f*cking unbelievable. I go in to the Apple store wanting it to be repaired, and what do they go and do? I explain that I take care of my Apple products (I tell them that I have had all the iPhones up to now) and I'm gutted there's a scratch on my iPad, and I have no idea how it got there. I tell them that the only thing I do is wipe the screen down with a cloth. They tell me that the scratch is outside of Apple's warranty and classed as general wear and tear, because in their opinion something quite hard must have caused the scratch. At this point I'm gutted because I know I'm not getting anywhere here. They then tell me the only option I have is a replacement iPad as they cannot repair the iPad because of the way it is manufactured. And the price for a replacement? £290 plus VAT, which comes to £349. So my heart just sinks... Then the bloke sees my obviously gutted expression and says "but as a goodwill gesture, we will waiver the fee on this occasion". At this point I f*cking ecstatic! I could not believe that they would just give me a replacement iPad for free. Unbelievable. And the funny thing was I would not have even bothered to visit the Apple store if it wasn't for EscortNreg, Hunter Jamie or andaba and their posts, so thanks goes out to those guys. I owe you fellas a pint! Edited January 6, 2011 by wwwd
PeeWee
Apple are incredibly good to thier customers & often go beyond what they have to. What the guy said I believe true as those screens are really hard to get scratched so something must of caught it unaware to yourself.Well done I bet your chuffed. I don't know another company that look after their customers as well as they do. You'd think Apple would be like any other faceless corporation but I've dealt with them twice now and they bend over backwards to help you. I'm still stunned to be honest with the way they handled everything, considering they had every right to turn around as say tough sh*t. Yeah, I'm over the moon Edited January 6, 2011 by wwwd
PeeWee
Very expensive products but you can pretty much say once you buy into it they make sure they keep you happy & want to keep you for life. I think it must be in their policy to keep customers whatever cost so that you return.

Well before going to Apple I Googled similar problems and a lot of research I found was that as long as you're polite and not pushy, the Apple staff will bend over backwards to help you. A lot of people have gone in all guns blazing, kicking off and alsorts and that approach won't work. So if you do go, be polite! I went in, didn't push anything and just said I'd only had the iPad a week after getting it for Xmas and I was gutted. Then I told them I always take care of my things, only wiped the screen with a cloth and had no idea how the scratch got there. Then boom! BUT... they do feel slightly sticky so your fingers dont run over as smooth...You seen them in the flesh before? used to use them all the time... I had one on my nokia N97 and thought it was amazing untill i took it off and felt how easier my fingers glided over the screen. for protection they're amazing, but i dont think i would use one again. also, the little fidely bits that go round the edge, i wouldnt really bother, they never go on properly and 2 months down the line one will peel off slightly and your see all the pocket dirt/fluff stuck to it.
