oh ok i was wondering as i have the same car as this but the 3door 1.3, ive done an engine convertion too,, ive left the 1.3 master cylinder on with my 300mm brakes on the front and rear disks on the back but it doesnt seem powerfull enough' wich is why i asked, is it easy to put the mondeo cylinder on, could you run me thru on what you had to do? cheers, nice car anyway :)

it was a complete b*st*rd to fit, i might have to take it off again to make it sit level.

engine all back together, just need a clutch so i can bolt it back in the car. excuse the cam

cover as it's the one that was on the engine, i have another one to go on when it's back in

the car.

right got a clutch and some brakes today. first thing to go wrong was the release bearing

didn't fit, so left the old one on. got the engine and gearbox bolted back together then

struggled to get it back in the car. the rear gearbox mount is a sod to line up! managed

to get it all bolted back in then started to fit all the bits back on, then went to put the rad

back in and the cradle i had was a cvh which is too short for a zetec rad, do left that and

went to sort the front brakes, pads were too small, then noticed that the near side drive

shaft had got caught under the lower arm as they were still in the box, tried jacking the

lower arm and strut up to pull the shaft out and ripped the cv boot.

 

if it weren't for the rad cradle, pads and cv boot the car may have been back on it's wheels.

sorry no pics as i was just getting on with it. so hopefully the car should be about done by the

end of next week.

got the rad in, thermostat housing on, all the hose's on, the inlet manifold on, clutch cable on,

air box on and inlet trunking, made a start on getting the loom connected, just need to trace the

wires on the car so i can sort them.

got the front end back together today, just need a set of pads then i can bleed the brakes.

drained the old oil out and put some fresh stuff in and a new filter, the oil that came out was

really black! then put the battery back on and turned it over with no spark plugs in to make

sure it was fine, and it was. filled it up with water aswell to make there's no leaks. the only

things left to do are change the tank and lines, make a bracket for the fuel filter, make an

exhaust up as i need to move the brackets to suit the MK5 shell. and sort the wiring out!

in need of a wash. got the tank out and swapped the feed fuel line as the return is the same.

just need to get my welder back as a mate borrowed it to do some bits on his mk2 granada.

progress is looking good will have to keep eye out for it

got the exhaust mostly done today, just need to get a clamp and some paste in the morning.

also got a new multimeter today so i could check the wires on the car loom so i now have spark

just need to finish the fuel pump wiring as it got dark before i could get it done.

didn't get anything done today as i had to bolt a 2.8 V6 back together for a mate.

right i'm getting pissed off with this car as it keeps fighting me every step of the way!

still trying to get it to run on all 4. today i managed to get it to rev to 6000rpm by leaving the inlet pipe

off but i had to press the throttle slowly as when you try to rev it fast it just dies. i've also got a fueling

problem as the fuel rail doesn't hold pressure. i've swapped the injectors and pressure reg with known

working ones and still the same. it's getting to the point where i'm going to rip the injection rubbish off and

go carb!
