Airbag steering wheel problem

Hello, please I need your help.

I bought a walnut dashboard and a wooden steering wheel (from UK) and I spent some time trying to change the airbag steering wheel... tried to use the same one from my car, but did not work!? The ROTARY COUPLING connections (yellow wires) on the back are a bit different: from my car is just joined/fitted with my steering wheel it passes through a square hole.

For the wooden steering wheel, the holes are rounded, and it seems to be fixed with bolts. I can pass the wires, but they will not be fixed.

My Escort is year 2001 and that wooden steering wheel was fitted in a Uk Escort GTi.

If I buy a ROTARY COUPLING for this wooden stering wheel, will it set perfectly to my car? The horn and airbag will work?

EDIT: I think this photo should explain all:

the number two is exactly like the one from my car... the number one is the one fixed with bolts..., so will it fit on that wood steering wheel?

Looks like he needs a UK spec clock spring,

Just had a look and your original Escort steering wheel is the same type as fitted to our Mk4 Fiestas so you will need a UK escort clock spring to replace yours, I cant see it not working providing the airbag yellow wire is the same connection

hey guys,

this is my airbag steering wheel:

do you think is it the same from fiesta mk4?

the problem seems to be just that my "clock spring" does not fit on the wooden steering wheel.

the question is: if I buy just the "UK spec" clock spring will it work OK with my airbag?

indeed but still the version you have looks like the smaller rs2000 style one we call over here and an updated air bag with the proper ford badge on thats what most of us over here in our escorts go for as the steering wheel is smaller and looks more stylish. i think sell on the wooden one to someone else but they will need the uk airbag clock ring etc

Hi mate, this steering wheel I have on my car is also rare here, because it was just lauched on the last escorts. I found a front airbag picture from a wooden steering wheel and here is the picture to compare to mine. They seems to be the same, so I think if I just buy the ROTARY COUPLING will fit ok with the airbag one I have with ford badge?
