Dan's van!

Said I'd get some pics and a therad up so here it is! Nothing special going on right now as I'm out of work so just using what I have in my garage. After some MOT preparation like brake pipes and a few welds I decided to move on to some cosmetics...

First job was the rear valance panel:

I wonder what nice clean solid metel is behind the bumpers...

None!

Then got the grinder out and got rid of every thing I didn't like the look of, got a bit of 3mm and made a nice new solid panel:

It's been ground back and red oxide coated for now, got a few other little panel repairs to do and need to make some mounts for the new rear bumper.

Then turned my attention to the front bumper. Had a Focus bumper lying about from my mate's crash and a spare Escort one, so out with the grinder:

Then keep grinding bits until it all fits nice:

Then a bit of a twist:

So that takes me up to Sunday night. I know it's not much yet but hopefully get a bit more done this week.

Thanks for the encouragement, got a few hours on the bumper today just fine tuning the fit and started fibre glassing the two together. Need to sort out the brakes though, despirately trying to save the calipers as I want to put my money into a brake upgrade later down the line rather than have to spend money on standard stuff just now. Just keep soaking the pistons in WD40 every time I walk past!

This patch is pretty rough although it will take a fill ok. If things go to plan it might not be seen anyway ;)

The bumper is coming along too:

Keeping the option to have indicators in the bumper as I want to get some morettes too.

You can also see there the bad boy bonnet I did a while back when I was bored lol. The black isn't going to stay, just what I had on the shelf at the time.

Comments/suggestions/hate, all welcome!

Thanks mate! The bonnet was modified by making a cardboard template while the bonnet was still on the vehicle. I then transfered this to some sheet, cut them out (one is a mirror image of the other so you just turn the template over) and welded them to a spare bonnet I had. Then grind back a bit, slap on some filler and sand to smooth it all in. The hardest bit is getting the curves right to clear the headlight as it isn't a straight line, it curves slightly. I may do another one as I have another 2 bonnets! Certainly was cheaper, even just for the carriage cost, all the stuff I used was in my garage already! My bumper is supposed to look WRC-esque too, so with some morettes too it should look mean! Hope fully get back on to this tomorrow! Thanks again for the support
