Ive been on here for a fair while, i browse fairly often but rarely post I picked up my 3'rd Escort yesterday, a 1995 1.6 Zetec Ford Escort Mexico, With only 45K On the clocks from new and very little wrong with it at all! I paid £450 which in my opinion is a steal for one with such low mileage. Found it on eBay, one of those really crappy written adds with no punctuation and very little information, I'd never heard of a Mk6 Mexico so i rang up out of interest in possibly buying and ended up with a bargain, I'm guessing the shoddy eBay add put a lot of people off I've covered not far off 200 miles in the last two days and i love it, its not as quick as my previous mk4 But its comfy and drives so smooth and nice, and still has plenty of pull while getting what i beleive to be around 40 ish MPG Few pictures from when i got it,http://i853.photobucket.com/albums/ab100/NoFear77/Image0366-1.jpghttp://i853.photobucket.com/albums/ab100/NoFear77/Image0367-1.jpg I'm not sure what my plans are with it yet, Nothing immediate as i need to save some money, so mainly just look after it and enjoy it for the moment with a few low cost mods possibly. If i decide to keep it long enough mods will start happening, I want colour coded bumpers, different wheels (I'm not a huge fan of Gti/Mondeo wheels, far too common, just personal prefference) Possibly lower, although its a really nice ride at 40mm with the shocks. Currently it has a nice Alarm/Immob system fitted with keyless entry and a push start button (a Subtle one not a stupid huge center of the dash rally spec one!)A full Magnex Catback and 40mm Springs on Front Spax shocks and rear Gaz Shocks and a K&N Cone filter. Only problems it has is a cracked windscreen, one bald tyre and a slight crunch going into 4'th at higher revs? Every other gear is fine including reverse. Seriously 60mm drop was expensive for me, ruined bushings and tyres so quick. Even polys were fked every 18 months. Get some black side repeaters, like 9 quid new and remove the bump strips. And i'm unsure on skirts yet.. i like them but every escort has them, i kind of want to go a unique way with it, will probably end up a marmite car, you'll either like it or hate it But im going to mod it how i want it as imo thats what modding cars is about, by no means am i saying there bad ideas, each to there own. I verywell may add skirts at some point but im unsure yet And smoked side repeaters will come at some point also Ideas for wheels are some nice 16's i think, It's hard to find anything good in Ford PCD Though At the moment the ones im liking are ST Mondeo alloys Not sure what elese.. not a huge fan of multispoke and i like something dished to an extent And im going to grab a spare grill from a scrappy, an honeycomb one and have a tinker with it, i dont like any of the Escort grills that much so i might try designing a unique one somehow Overall at the moment im just working out free mods i can do to tidy it up, and of course looking after it, when i get some money spare i'll be able to experiment with ideas All ideas etc welcome! There are some other skirts availiable, RS Accessory skirts for example, they arent so common and still look the part, seriously the reason everyone has the GTI/RS skirts is because they fit the car so well, I test fitted some M3 skirts back in the day cause i wanted to be different and it looked wack. However your right, modding is about making a car individual but skirts and spats and a splitter are just 3 items, theres about 8million other ways to personalise, find me two escorts that are the same on here and ill eat my morette trumpets. Theres loads of grills availiable, my fav is the honeycomb but ive seen so many different ones on here that I didnt even know existed. 16" is a great size rim when sitting on 195-45s, doesnt alter the car original geo to much then, my old 15"s were too small, the scort has massive arches but I always found 17"s that step too far. Still working out what i want to do with it tbh, i very well may add them things but im unsure yet, currnetly only plans are free haha, Going to black/red the Ford badges, debadge the back, Fit my own audio stuff at some point also as i took all of my stuff out of my Mk4 when i sold it I expect an EscortEvo sticker will find its way onto the car along with a PH Smiley at some point i've got an espace splitter for £20 collected, it's a bit deeper than a laguna one. Also gave me a free Throttle bodie, EBC brake pads, Headlight bulbs and HT Leads. Anyhow, haven't odne much bar that due to work/RL commitments.
