Ahmotorsport Posted December 8, 2011 Share Posted December 8, 2011 As some of you may have seen in the History section, my Dad used to Sprint/Race/Rally a Mk1 Cortina GT in 1968. Well about 8 months ago, it was decided to rebuild 'ANK' the Cortina. It will have an MOT but it is a Race Car. Work has begun and i thought i'd post it up here. It will start off as a 1575cc Pre Crossflow, hopefully 140BHP something like that, but it will end up using a 1630cc Crossflow bottom end with the Pre X/Flow head, all steel bottom end, not really sure what power it'll have but should be atleast 150BHP. As you can see there is a lot of rot! We cut four floors out the front footwells (all stacked on top of each other) Currently making a jig so we can cut the front inner wings out and replace with new ones in exactly the right place. One of my friends has just finished restoring a mk1 lotus cortina apparently it's a limited edition one called special equipment I'll see if I can get some pics of it...... Forked out £600 for some inner wings, they want £295 each for just an inner wheel arch.....I think we'll repair what we've got considering it's only gonna be a racer!
