tomsy
After owning a finesse centre console for 18 months i finally got round to fitting it today, when i first had it i consulted my haynes manuel and as usual it described quite a long winded process so was put off. Last weekend i asked how to do it on here and jc very kindly replied with a link to a how to, followed this and it really was a doddle, this is how it looks. http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/31291.jpg http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/31292.jpg The moral of this post is don't be put off from doing a job, just get on here and ask chances are its been done by someone and a lot more simply than mr Haynes would do it. He did notice that the auxillary drive belt was half the size it should be due to the fact it was just about to give up the ghost he changed it, all is good with the car mechanically just gotta carry on with the cosmetic stuff for ford fair now. tomsy
Thanks Andy and bongo don't know if you believe in lucky cars and unlucky cars but this one has been a joy to own. When ever i'm with it, it always puts a smile on my face not sure if its normal to have such an emotional attachment to a car lol.

I know what you mean about being a bit ocd with your car back in the 90's i owned a show winning s2 rs turbo that took over my life, and this GTI is going the same way much to my wifes dismay lol. More or less got the same plan as you with mine get it looking as mint as possible with a few subtle mods.
tomsy
In my efforts to get the car looking as smart as i can for ford fair i paid auto specialists web site a little visit on sunday, and today i delivered these to myself. http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/31340.jpg Not the best photo but i've bought maf cover, stainless nuts for front strut mounts stainless caps for top of the shocks and a set of stainless allen key bolts for my freshly powder coated cam cover. All waiting to be fitted as soon as the cam cover comes back.Managed to come across one of these a few weeks back totally by chance right place right time. http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/31341.jpg Will need a coat of paint but very lucky to get it as we all know how rare these are. Hoping i get my half tinted rear lights off naylors old car by weekend, a coat of black paint for the rear drums and i think im all done for ford fair, its gonna be a busy week as long as the weathers good will get some photos up when done tomsy
