Stu
Because you're not a paid up member. I wouldn't port the head or change cams unless you're going to make a drastic change to the inlet tract (e.g. ITB's). Billkent22
Ahh ok, thanks for the advice. I will go and pay up now then! Is there alot to be gained by porting the head if i did go down the route of itbs?
Stu
Sure, if done properly. Porting heads isn't just about creating a larger port, it's about the shape of the port. Standard head is good to about 170bhp n/a with a suitable package around it. Anything up to 300bhp is possibly with some serious work! £10k++

Billkent22
Small update, I split the 2.0 i dont tekon its too bad to be honest. http://i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k586/urbexkent/car%20bits/61a3b655.jpg http://i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k586/urbexkent/car%20bits/1dee7b65.jpg http://i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k586/urbexkent/car%20bits/1a771e83.jpg And the new head............ Lightly Ported and polished with larger (blacktop) inlet valves. http://i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k586/urbexkent/car%20bits/187aa08c.jpg http://i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k586/urbexkent/car%20bits/6577e4be.jpg
Stu
I'm surprised you've gone for larger inlet valves, when it's the exhaust side of the head that's the most restrictive.
Billkent22
Does the black top and silver top share the same exhaust vlave size (28mm)?If so i think the inlet was only done (all be it only 1mm) due to the fact that the valves are redily available and cheap! Not bad for £160 tho eh?!
Stu
Exhaust valves are the same size. It's the exhaust ports which are the restriction on the head. Porting the inlet without the exhaust will gain you nothing, but potentially make the engine make less torque everywhere.
