My New Focus

So with the Escort I loved so much costing me £330 in a good month just in fuel to go to work and back along with the continued maintenance etc and all the things that go along with such a car I finally decided enough was enough. Since I bought the thing August 2011 I did nothing but work on it and that was only going to continue.

I went and got a 1.6 TDCI Zetec Focus, I was resided to the fact that I wasnt going to end up with a car I liked that much but it would save me money and stress.

Just out of curiosity, because it's just popped into my head. What is your opinion on non-removable head units? Most modern cars now have all the ICE built around the dash so you can't upgrade the head unit. Would you say this is an advantage or disadvantage?

I'm assuming newer cars have much better speaker quality, and you can probably EQ the ICE anyway on the LCD screen they got going on.

A bit off-topic, but as you asked.. Advantage is security and lack of theft interest... disadvantage is quality.

Stu is on point, the system is pretty nice in the focus, yes I would like to rig my old sub up then I could reduce the bass from the normal speakers allowing ultimately a louder better sound but its good enough if you ask me, not something I'm rushing to sort. After market ice in this car would look weird unless it was hidden in the glove box which would be quite do able I guess but all the integration would be a tw@

to be fair though, anyone other than a die hard ICE enthusiast will find most new systems more than adequate?

my Sony equipped 2004 Mondeo is more than adequate. The better half kicks off if it goes loud anyway  .....plus these days you look a bit of a tit going down the road "boom boom boom boom"

on topic: Nice Focus

also, as a side note, it's amazing how much the commute will be so much more bearable now. Mine is quite small compared to yours, a 40 mile round trip, but going from a shitheap Vectra to a decent spec TDCi Mondeo was heaven :)

Thanks man and yes, it's a completely different and enjoyable experience, so many other things to enjoy about the car rather than the things I enjoyed in the escort

Good to see you back on here naylor really nice car you've bought would have gone for a 3 door myself but thats just personal preference, really hope you dont break the escort and can find some long term storage option for it you put to much time money and effort into it just to break it.

Yeh me too but it's a moot point as there isn't one, remember the banter at the ford fair regarding the 5 door ST, we were like wtf?

I'm happy with what ever happens to the escort, I'm content with it, I finished my project and took it to a show and enjoyed the car at its prime which is what I got it to, by comparison the car I bought was dog sh1t back last August. If I'd given up I would have always wondered what could have been where as now I don't and have a big progress topic and millions of pictures. If I cared that much about the money and effort I wouldn't have done it, I spent so much of both always knowing I'd never get it back but surely you know it's not about money......

theres no 3 door mk3

nice looking focus - not a lover of them myself but each to their own - hope its more reliable than my missus fiesta on a 12 plate, b*stard thing wouldnt start yesterday morning

Me too Steve but you and everything near you never has good luck, besides anything that goes wrong I've got a warranty for a long time to keep me covered.

The dials are sweet, nice blue glow, I love the interior.

Ill be spending some more time with the girlfriend, we haven't done a lot since the Escort, might go on holiday somewhere. I got my guitar, drums, mates, computers, plenty of things to do, right now I am enjoying the break.
