redmex
Right Ive seen a Focus ST-3 breaking so naturally i wonder has anyone fitted the motor from one in an escort? how big is that 5 cylinder motor and box.. Will it physicly fit in the escort bay? I have no issues with fabricating engine-box mounts and wiring looms, its just a q does it physicly fit in with help.. Any constructive comments or useful links would be very welcome.. Someone must have done it or tried by now??
Stu
It'll fit. Although to be honest if you're a fabricator then it's a bit of an odd question to ask. Wiring loom isn't that simple. The immobilisor and stuff is tied into the instrument cluster as well as other modules, so you'll either need to move all that over or change to aftermarket management. sidrick
Someone must have done it or tried by now?? Those that own Escorts generally can't/won't spend 4 times what their car is worth on an engine before spending the same again trying to fit it. I'm not saying that as an insult, as it's true of the owners of most cars. What are the old STs down to now, about £5k?
redmex
All taken onboard chaps. It's time to get the tape measure out.
Craig855S
I'd LOVE to see it done, but wouldnt personallly spend that kind of money on a mk6 myself. Since it is essentially a T5 volvo engine would it not be considerably cheaper to buy an old T5 volvo, one so old the immobiliser tech will be simpler
Stu
It's not essentially an old T5 engine. It's a special 'narrow' engine.
