Andy 3i
Basically, I've got a feeling that my ICV has gone. I don't really want to spend £100 odd on a new one to find out my hunch was wrong. Is there a good pattern part available or is it just genuine only? If it makes a difference for a 130 HO inlet
SLEEMAN
Aren't the ones on the alloy inlet more reliable than the ones on the plastic inlet? Try removing it see how dirty it is inside and if it is clean it up with carb cleaners etc to see if that helps
demented
For an Rs2000 there's a resistance test which can be carried out to determine whether an ISCV actuator falls within a range of 6-20ohms. I if not within range, the actuator must be faulty. As I assume the ISCV actuators are all the same; if so, then the same test can be carried out on any Ford ISCV actuator. If the ISCV was sticking, surely the revs would stick either too high or too low ?
Andy 3i
It just hunts after about 2-5 mins idling. It could be because the head work and cam etc but there's something in the back of my mind saying I should change it...at least to eliminate that problem. Maybe I'll try a resistance test to see if it is faulty. The broken wire I had before to the coolant temp sensor was easy to find, and at the same time I checked all the other sensors to the main engine harness connector and they were all fine. I suppose the next step is tracing back from the harness to ecu.
demented
I have the same on my Rs; I've checked, swapped or replaced every sensor and had 3 different ISCV, all know to be working. Then by accident, I discovered I could change behaviour of idle by wiggling the engine/coil pack loom wires. On closer inspection, I discovered the coil pack loom, only a small section, behind the engine and under the TB/inlet manifold was totally shot. Its not a definitive diagnosis, as my Rs2000 is still in bits, has been for 6 months. Although the Rs2000's are renown for such issues and other Escorts are not, it may be worth considering, especially when you have, changed, swapped or replaced so many possible causes. scottybo
all depends (regarding the cam) on how aggressive it is. if its a rather high lift one it would idle like sh!t
