co-op scooby
Hi fellow Escortians.Would my 1998 S plate non turbo diesel van run properly with an aftermarket cone filter?, or does it have one of those annoying air metering jobs that would make it a lumpy runner? How do i find out if i has?To me,it looks like it is just a plain ducting to the filter box.Any experts out there done similar and what were the results please.Regards Andy Edited July 27, 2013 by co-op scooby

tomsy
In my experience of having owned 3 1.8 petrol mk6's the only one that ran badly was the one with an after market air filter it wouldn't idle properly. So if you only want to change to a cone filter for cosmetic reasons cus it looks better i would leave well alone hope this helps Andy.

co-op scooby
why not swap for turbo diesel then? millions available and i cant imagine it being a difficult conversionAt the end of the day the van did 80 to 85 round the M25 when I picked it up so thats plenty good enough for an old git like me mate.Going more for show than go .regards Andy.(At the back of my mind I am toying with the idea of flogging the van and getting a 3 door GTI) Edited July 30, 2013 by co-op scooby
