A few people fit the diesel box to the rs as the rs had low ratios,doing over 3k at 70mph,the diesel box is about 500 rpm lower iirc.

youd need lower ratios round your way, all those hills nearly killed me last time i came up

Having diesel ratio'd gearbox isn't always that good.

 

I had that engine in my old aubergine one, killed gearbox on track day so found a cheap diesel MTX up the road from me.

 

Fitted it, IIRC 2nd and 3rd gears I got more speed out of it (think 65 and 90 than 56/8 & 82/5 mph) but couldn't take it past 120 due to final drive ratio being high.

 

However, I know that engine is a good un and shifts with RS box fitted. If can combine the 2 but don't see the point if keeping it budget.
