scottybo
who makes the chip? how much does it cost and for what car with what engine? i have a collins powerchip in my escort currently. they cost around £130 new. as ive never had the car tested on a rolling road i have no idea if i get any more power from it (very little if if im honest) but it does remove the flat sport low down the rev range on the zetec engine and it feels a bit more spritely so im happy with it

Asking because it would be nice to get more power to lower rev range. Acceleration it´s no very good at low rev at the moment. Maybe it´s common problem with xr3i engine? Why do you even bother to answer to question if your answer is that stupid what you just written. No use those kind of idiots.

Andy 3i
I'm going to guess that it fools the ecu into thinking the air outside is cold so it dumps more fuel in. Yeah you might get better throttle response but essentially you are going to be using more fuel for little performance gain if any! The long term damage could be bore washing and increased wear internally. A chip in the ecu isn't it too bad as generally they alter more parameters. On the other hand if you have a VAG tdi then a tuning box is recommended!
