Damsel In Distress

Hello!

So I've just bought an escort - 1996 1.6 LX saloon in white.

I know precisely nothing about cars, unfortunately a stereotypical female car owner!

Two things I'd really like to know are:

1. How do I know what mark it is?

2. The car's in pretty mint shape apart from the bumpers which need replacing - they're cracked and have been sprayed over really shoddily! The car has got a really nice square rear bumper, which looks very like the Orion, so I'd replace like for like. But the front bumper gives the front of the car a really rounded shape. What I want to do is replace the front bumper with a more square looking bumper, to look more like the back...

Any advise would be massively appreciated!! I don't know where to start, no idea which bumper will fit etc... help! :)

its a mk6, to make the front look more square you could convert to the older mk5 front end which would make it look a bit like this http://www.escortevolution.co.uk/forums/in...50585&st=15

Thanks for the link! That's the look I'm going for :)

Had a look on ebay and I've found a couple of mk5 front bumpers for sale. It says their not compatible with 1996 Escort....would it say that just because that's not what they were actually designed to fit...but would it still work?

What I mean is, would it be a fairly easy fit or would it need stuff doing to make it fit?

Sorry about my incompetence!
