condor83
Hi Simon, As far I know there are two ways, the easiest one is get the calipers and discs from a Escort RS2000 or better the entire beam, the other is get ones from a MK1 Focus. The later option has the inconvenient that increases the rear track, but for a daily driver there isn´t any problem. I've done this to my Escort that doesn´t has ABS and is a direct bolt on. For both you need to change the handbrake wire/cable, in my case I easily adapted the wire/cable to the lever of the focus calipers.Cheers. scottybo
i went focus rear discs, check my thread for some pics super easy to get the parts, much cheaper than rs stuff as well, and bolts directly on, took me about 2 and a half hours to get mine on also the rs rear beam lowers the car by 20mm at the back endhttp://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/j432/scottybo1/2013-09-28190331_zps956689e4.jpghttp://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/j432/scottybo1/2013-10-10144120_zps3de99281.jpg looks great as well! SimonHawtin
Can i remove the drums and bolt the focus discs and calipers onto the stub axle?
condor83
I think you cant, because the escort stub axel doesn´t has a piece/location where you can bolt the caliper. You need to get the hub, axle, calipers and discs from a Focus MK1 you can direct bolt it on, the caliper mounting part and stub axle in the Focus is an one piece. scottybo
Focus hubs will also be needed but are a direct fit and very easy to come by

demented
If your Escort has ABS, the Focus set up is the only way to go. If ABS not fitted as standard, then a complete Rs2000 rear beam can be used. When using Focus set up the ABS reluctor rings require removing and the rear of the Focus hubs require machining so the Escort toothed reluctor rings will fit. Also, the ABS sensors holes in the Focus stub axles require enlarging for the Escort ABS sensors to fit, new sensor fixing holes are also required. I've read elsewhere on the Internet that the ABS sensor from a Escort Estate are the better ones to use, not sure why, apparently they are completely straight and don't fit into the stub axles at a right angle. Modified Secta
Hang on, so I can bolt a mk1 focus rear hub with the disk and calliper attached straight on to a mk5 escort rear beam without abs, just I thought the fact that focus's have independent rear suspension might make it different but obviously not? and also will the wheels be spaced out differently

The whels will be spaced out by around 10mm on either side but this has never caused me any problems at all. The focus rear discs are also being run on bongos escort with no problems
demented
For the Focus hubs to fit the Mk6 Escort, the Foucs stub axles are required too. The Focus sub axles share the same bolt patern as the Mk6 Escort drum brake stub axles and will bolt straight onto the mk6 rear beam with or without ABS. The Focus hubs can not be fitted to the Escort stub axles; the Focus calipers bolt onto the stub axles. The Focus rear discs set up can be fitted to your Escort even if it doesn't have ABS. To pass a UK MOT test and probably any similar road worthiness test within the EU, if the vehicle has ABS, then the ABS must be in complete working order or completely removed if disabled. If your Escort never had ABS from new, then a complete mk5 Rs2000 rear discs beam can replace the existing mk6 rear drum brake beam and will bolt straight on. Prior to UK MOT legislation and production of the Ford Focus, the mk5 Rs2000 rear discs beam was the easiest option.

scottybo
For me personally i think the focus rear setup is the better option. Price wise in the long run for pads and discs. Easier to fit as you dont need to remove the entire beam. Handbrake is much simpler and much better design. They look great and the 10mm spacing of the wheels really fills the rear arches. I was impressed how much better mine looked with the wheels out like that (i have had no scrubbage issues btw) it makes the car look so much meaner! Although mine does seem to have a little bit of camber on the rear now. Im now sure how and it rly isnt very much. But the handling is much improved and it looks the biz!
