WRC_Cozzie Posted February 11, 2002 Share Posted February 11, 2002 K&N Have finally released the last of Escort SPI CFi engine air filters. These engines were exremely difficult to find an appropriate filter compatable. This was down to the fact that the Escorts that were released with this engine configuration was only made for 2 years before they were discontinued. The facts are, tho these engines were very badly made (as in reliability) the performance of the 1.4Cfi´s were far beyond any other 1.4 as its it used a single point infector whicg was 3 times the size of the EFi injectors and pushed bigger power out of the car. Facts also show that these cars drank alot of fuel for just 1.4´s almost as much as an 1800cc Escort but the power output of the first and second gears were almost identical. These 1.4´s were very hard to modify or mess about with as they were made to almost be incompatable with every extra available to other Escorts. This is why i decided to re vamp the original engine my car came with b4 with used it as a project. The cars engine if maintained, kept in good condition and tweaked here and there the performance of these 1.4 Cfi´s even with 8 valve would give any other 16v car a load of probs catching up and standing a chance. I have ordered one of these air filters so im expecting the bhp to go up slightly and im very excited on the outcome. Lets see what happens.
