Teribus
With my dad's help, this is today's mod. Now, the reason i needed my dad's help is that he's able to gas weld. I am not. Though, strangely enough, I have a city and guilds certificate for Gas Welding, he doesn't. Anyway, I wanted one of these nice tailpipes on my car. the problem being, however, that with my 2 1/4" bore pipe, I wasn't really able to get one that would slot over it like they're designed to... unless i had it specially made. So, I just bought this one and used my typical philosophy of "It WILL fit!". Which, obviously, it does. Thanks to my dad's welding skills. Incidentally, the "made in britain" sticker won't peel off so i'll take it off at another date. Not quite a rage back box, but it looks better than what went before... Yes, I know, my car needs a wash Just look at the tread on those babies! Thoughts? -T

Teribus
definitely not, they're bloody good. I also like the "rim protector" on the sidewall, that's handy! Probably isn't everyone's cup of tea, but everyone's gotta admit, it looks better than standard -T

JonC
lose the blanket on the parcel shelf reminds me of a 90 year old granny in a rover oh and the tailpipe looks okish, i dunno maybe would look better facing upwards
Teribus
Negative feedback. Hmmm. I don't wanna buy a backbox. It's a Turbo Diesel runaround, not a souped up street cruiser like my old car (a Fiesta) was. I just like the look of twin tailpipes. Pointing them upwards isn't an option with a white car. Every morning when i start my car there's always a black patch where the exhaust points. if that was pointing upwards, that black patch would be on my boot! the tartan rug is a necessity! s'all I'm saying. Comes in handy for hiding my tools if i ever need to leave the back seats down. Besides all that, I'd been carrying a chest in the back of the car and the tatran rugs went between it and the windows. If they weren't there, i'd be replacing the rear windscreen and a rear door window. What's wrong with the stickers? I like 'em. S.S.D.D sums up my work rather well! I coulda won £106 with the beat 106 Two dildos???? WTF?! Basically, I've said it before, i'll say it again. 'tis my car after all, I do sorta live there (except i come home to sleep and eat..). I always said anything I'd do to my escort wouldn't cost a lot and would be just to personalise and make the car look better. a shiny twin tailpipe is better looking than a rusty bent old thing pointing out the side. S'all I'm saying. I like it. -T

tidykart
Sos mate, but the tailpipe looks awful, the money you spent on the pipe is probably a 1/4 of the cost for a backbox, should of saved ya money. One of my mates has a Pug Diesel and he has a custom made backbox and it sounds awesome- sos for more critism put we gota look out for each other here on escortevolution.co.uk world. neil
I think it looks good. Much better than the standard rusty look. Even more fitting that because it a diesel it points downwards.
Sheen
if its just a runaround man, here's a tip, if its not broke dont fix it (in your case)
Teribus
Sos mate, but the tailpipe looks awful, the money you spent on the pipe is probably a 1/4 of the cost for a backbox, should of saved ya money. One of my mates has a Pug Diesel and he has a custom made backbox and it sounds awesome- sos for more critism put we gota look out for each other here on escortevolution.co.uk world. the thing only cost me a tenner, Now if you can get a backbox for £40, I'm all ears. You can't even get a standard silencer for that! (they're £45 for my car, that's the cheapest quote i got) Now then, yeah, it's a runaround, but I was still embarrassed by the mess that was the old exhaust. Couple that to the fact that when i replaced the back bumper, the exhaust hole was in the wrong place, something needed done. Y'see, with mine being the 88bhp TD, the tailpipe poined out the side, if you like, rather than straight out the back as it does now. So my old bumper had the hole in the wrong place. After muxh searching i couldn't find one of those bumpers in the scrappy so I settled with the one you see now (because it was white, the rest were blue. For some reason, only the blue ones seem to get crashed around here). So, my exhaust didn't come out the hole provided. So, to make it look a little better, there's my answer. I was going for the whole VW look, where their TDI cars all have small twin tailpipes pointing downwards out the bumper (take a good look next time you're following a Bora or a Passat) Thanks for the positive comments though, glad I'm not the only one who likes it oh, yeah, thanks f1web. Like u say, if it's a diesel, best it points downwards. They can be messy on startup! -T
