Ex-Finesse
fcuk that 3k. just on modding and old engine. have one built for that kinda money from new, specialized enginering will build a 2ltr zetec from scratch for that kinda money balanced cranks, race cams, stage 3 head gas flowed, etc etc. from 160 up to 200bhp and no turbo lagg and still room for improvement 200bhp to 250bhp<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Have you any idea how poor ££££ per bhp modding a naturally aspirated zetec is?? You're looking at £4k absolute minimum for a 200bhp zetec. You'll need forged pistons (the biggest jump in expense) as your compression ratio will be about 11.5:1 which would kill standard pistons very quickly! I see your point about 200 NA vs. 350 turbo........ but so what?? The turbo you take a little lighter on corners, but apart from that, the turbo will descimate the NA car! Personally, I wouldn't want to spend £5k on an engine (NA) and struggle to beat Civic Type-R's £5k spent on turbo conversion, you'd see off most Scoobies on the A-roads! On 17s (decent rubber) and with a quaife LSD, you should have an engine producing around 270bhp..... of which around 230 will make it's way onto the tarmac as it's efficient FWD power! Only Scoobies (and cossies) comfortably over 300bhp will have that kind of power on the road, due to heavy 4x4 transmission losses...... Which means a GT4 would also get spanked PMSL
Scotteh
not just about power tho, tis handling and no escort is gonna compare to a scooby unless it has the word cosworth in it

Yes, I am having a 4WD conversion in good time, but my FWD will spank Scoobies all day long on the twisties3. Cosworths suck

At the end of the day, the escort is just a shape. It's the suspension componentry underneath that's important. And what you don't get out of the factory, you have fabricated! Only something of entirely different calibre (ie. 'Rari, Lambo, etc) will always be better, as their suspension setups are totally different. They don't use Macpherson Struts LOL

Scotteh
355 is designed for a track, take a hot hatch to track and it wud be p*ssed all over it, take it to a rally track and it wud beat a 355 lol, completely different scenarios, im saying a rally car wud beat a family car ford escort, even if it had a 2litre turbo engine around a-roads Edited May 11, 2005 by Scotteh

Scotteh
end of the day ralph, ur putting a fkin ford escort agenst a subaru impreza unless u completely rebuild the escort, new engine which is FAR greater than the scooby, which u rnt gonna get on a 2litre zetec, new suspension system, 4wd etc....esentially not a fkin escort at all u r NOT gonna beat a subaru impreza lol, can argue it all u want
