But it's a mk5b which makes me think it's a zetec Whatever it is, change to a 130spec 1.8, or 2L zetec if you can put up with a little more hassle. Then you have a decent platform to get reliable power. Anything forced induction will cost about £2.5k upwards, which would give you either an RST engine, or an over-stressed zetec with standard internals running a decomp plate. Neither would be particularly reliable. Is your current engine a CVH or zetec??
Mike C
it's a Zetec well, unless it's had a transplant
j4ffa
its the zetec model with efi stamped on the inlet manifold
j4ffa
running bout 90-95 bhp at mo but put loads of weight on the car plus 17s
Ex-Finesse
Nice easy transplant to a 2L then. £800 and you should be able to get a decent 2L, all your new parts, and an allowance for all the labour. £800 for a 40bhp (minimum!) gain...... that's not to be sniffed at
Mike C
scrap that idea you're up North, just take ur car to JDMsport, give 'em £995 and they'll fully convert it to RS2K engine, gearbox etc etc etc, and with the spec they use, u shud get 160BHP and a broad torque curve
j4ffa
iv heard that easyer to tune 1.8 compared to 2.0 dont wanna go to big as car is show just want sumat there when i wanna flaw it
Ex-Finesse
What spec is that?? EDIT: Bear in mind RS2000 conversion will mean your insurance company look at is as a modified group 15 car, whereas the zetec it's "only" a modified group 11.
