how to keep the timing

right i know what to do as far as changing head gasket etc is concerned, but i never got as far as how to keep or re-time the top to bottom end of the engine,

 

1600 CVH turbo if it helps, can some people enlighten me on how to do it :cheers:

 

as i'm changing the gasket myself to save money. :thumb:

 

also do i need to buy new bolts, or perhaps its best to at 15psi :thumb:

on my zetec, there was a mark on the crankcase pulley which marked tdc. tdc is when piston no.1 reaches top dead centre as far as i know. i aint an expert as i have never had to touch any cvh's, only zetecs. :thumb:

good luck with it.

btw changing the head bolts is a must even if they look ok IMO. better to be safe at home with a working engine than late for work at the side of the road with coolant and oil and suchlike everywhere.
