RobMk6
which piston needs to be at TDC then or will it become clear when i split the engine, cos the cam turns at half engine speed so it will be either 1or 3 or 2 or 4?

ploppy
on my zetec, there was a mark on the crankcase pulley which marked tdc. tdc is when piston no.1 reaches top dead centre as far as i know. i aint an expert as i have never had to touch any cvh's, only zetecs. good luck with it.btw changing the head bolts is a must even if they look ok IMO. better to be safe at home with a working engine than late for work at the side of the road with coolant and oil and suchlike everywhere.
