foxdie
not if it uses the OTT (for an escort) mtx75 box.
Ex-Finesse
The 130 uses a 2L head, so larger ports AFAIK. Toonarmy got 122bhp with a chipped 130 ECU, 130 cams, TB, etc..... but not the head. You need to spend ££££ to get any kind of gain that'll be noticeable on the road

basskiddanny
I wouldnt bother doing any performance mods on the 1.8, id rather leave it standard if i was you and just drive it how it is If you want more power get a conversion or spend the money on a different car The 115ps is enough anyway for a car of this size. And by that i mean for general driving, not using the car to race people at the lights,....just as a car to get you places Either way its surely adequete for people our age rob, some people are stuck with 1.0 corsas etc. Get the engine running sweet as a nut and keep it that way But up to you, theres plenty of time for higher performance cars that are built to go fast Btw im not knocking anyone who has gotten serious power from an escort, just saying in robs case he would be better to keep it standard, i would love to have a load of power from my car, but i know i couldn't afford to insure it and i don't go for the "dont tell them" idea lol. basskiddanny
Its a nice, very clean GTI i think, one i would be proud to own, just get that tiny tiny bit of rust sorted like u plan to and it will be a minter!! I still want a GTI, and i dont have a clue why you can get insurance so cheap and i struggle to get it atall lol. If i could be insured on a GTI id put my car up for sale now and then go buy a GTI and keep it standard. I reckon you should get one of them ford cd players from a focus with the 6 disc changer built in! Im jealous of your colour coded strips lol On a side note i can't wait to start this degree, gunna be some good times had.

basskiddanny
Nah i am doing the first 2 years local to me because i like having my Escort Si Also because its easier living with parents too. I know some people think its sad, but i can't be arsed with moving away to uni to be honest with you lol....yes im a lazy b*stard, doin the same course that Rob is. The third year will be spent somewhere else probably. There is a job going that offers 20k plus bonuses for someone with my computing skills and ten places available, so if i get that i will be doing the degree part time only. On a 20k salary at 19 years old and living at home that would be sone decent money, and i could afford lots lol
Nick C
Just to add the MTX-75 box does not slow down the 1.8 130spec Zetec, they do 0-60 in 8.8s minimum. I test mine and it was around 8.5/9.0s when I first got it.

Timmy C
Whenever ive looked up the stats of a 130 spec its always been some where less than 9 seconds
basskiddanny
Yeah i am managing fine affording my car, but its still £80 a month insurance, but ive looked at other cars with smaller engines and the difference is minimal. You could always get an Si and just get the interior etc from a GTI....but then if you want to insure it legit then it might end up costing the same lol. If you had a GTI kit fitted to your car could you not blag the insurance and say its factory fitted? Assuming it was all genuine ford stuff?
