Beat Master BoB
Sorry if this post is in the wrong place but I just wanted to get all the more knowlegable people to have a read ... Basicially I had a clifford fitted the other day, but it couldnt be fitted to my central locking because the bloke said the wiring in my 98 finesse is different to that of a standard escort ... he then tried to charge me £60 for two '5 pin change over relays' and the cost of soldering them up to four wires !!! I found this a bit of a joke, so I told him to leave it and I would get it sorted myself ... basically I just wanted to ask has anyone ever had this problem before? and does anyone know where I can get these relays from / instructions on wiring them up? Cheerz All ... Later BmB

Ex-Finesse
Ford wouldnt change the wiring last minute would they I think he may have been trying to con ya <{POST_SNAPBACK}>They did for the very end of the line finesse's, but we're talking year 2000, and AFAIK, the wiring was changed to use digital dash clocks. Beat Master BoB
x-Finesse Posted Today, 10:24 PM Fcuking bullshite mate!!!!! I have a '98 finesse, and I have a Clifford Concept 300 fitted, and it works with the standard ... X-Finesse ... Mine is the Clifford Concept 650 with proximety sensor and remote start ... BUT the installation wasnt fully completed coz he couldnt fit the alarm to the back doors due to the lack of door springs (the things that tell the car the doors open, the same things that turn on your inside light when you open your doors, basically I have those for the front doors, but not the back, so he is saying I need to get ones fitted to the back then wire it up to the alarm) ... there is that problem as well as the thing about the CL ... (before mods!) is yours a finesse 1.6 98 ? and do you have the door springs on your back doors ??? or did they put them in when the alarm was installed or what ??? Do you think this company are just messing me about or what ?? I dont know what to do, think I might phone Clifford tomoz and see if they agree with what the engineer has said, coz this is a bit of a wind up ... Cheerz all ... I have had to go and get the parts from ford (£6 for 2 tiny peices of plastic !!! GRRRrrr) so thats gunna be todays job !!! pulling the door apart and wiring the thing to my interior light and alarm. But anyway ... the guy fitting my alarm was a 'Car Alarms Uk' bloke, they are like the second biggest Clifford supplier in the UK !!! thats why I am so suprised / annoyed about all this. Guest gti.tom
Ive got a G5 concept 650 as well. Don't wanna put a downer on this but just wait till its installed and the proximity chirp goes off at nothing. All the time, ten times a night. Major problem on mine. Had sensor unit changed twice and it still does it but I just put up with it. Something about escort having a "difficult interior shape". The only solution was to put the sensor in the roof lining which I wasn't keen on. I'll shut up now
