I have a 1.8 with the 130 cams, 2 LTR TB, 2ltr MAF... installed.

i want to install the 2.0 non pats ECU and have it running my current 1.8 engine.. so i no everything electrical wise is working good.. then once thats all ok, ill put in the 2.0. engine and it in theory will be all ready to go!

hairy muff. sounds like u know wot ur doing stu so i take ur word for it. ryan, wot did ur engine run like on a std ecu with the 130 bits?

on me std ecu...

You could feel more power in the 3,800 + revs, sounds nicer on the exaust. but to be honest, the car runs like a sack of poo..

doesnt tick over rite, hesitates when accelerating hard, flatspots ..

i find, (even tho this is VERY bad thing to do).. if i turn the engine on, when cold and straaight away ..Boot it!, it foookin tares! ... but if u let it warm up for like 15-20 min , drivin sensably, then put ur foot down, its sluggish and doesnt wana go anywhere.. i got beat by a 1.6 mk4 cab the other day :(

but then if i turn it off for 10 min, then restart it, boot it, it progressivly gets better, like theres a blockage, then after bootin it like 3 times, it sorta frees up , and goes like proper stink! - But then it starts idleing at 2000 revs!

WTF IS THAT ALL ABOUT!

i cleaned the ICV, that helped.. but it mite need replacing. im finkin the 2.0 MAF i got might be nackered?

its just that i was thinking a doing the conversion on my car. i might recon the head while im at it cos i think it could do with a good decoking as it hesitates when cold and also the car wasnt driven hard by the previous owner.

go for it! its a good lil conversion. and reconditioning the head aint exactly rocket science, what you got to loose!? :D

Prob a well asked question, hence why i havnt started a new topic, but anyway.. What year of mk1 mondeo 2.0 do i need to get an ecu from, to enusre its non pats and internal edis ??

i found a L reg mondeo 2.0, but when i pulled out the ecu, it was the 150(or how ever many there are) pin connector , not the 60 pin. it was an EEC-V i belive i need a EEC-IV ya?

Yeah it must be the 60-pin connection.

Thought EEC-IV was introduced far later, like year 2000 for some Fords??

Anyway, find as early a mondeo as you can. K-reg is ideal, but the best way to check is to see if the car keys have the red chip on them. Pot luck in a scrappy, unfortunatly.

WOW!

i fitted me 2.0 DESK non pats mondeo ECU to me escort today..

lil list of my engine mods...

130 cams

2.0 TB

2.0 MAF

magnacore leads

Decat

Magnex system, with center box removed..

-all running off the STD 115ps ecu.. AND IT RAN LIKE Shite, wouldnt idle properly, drank fuel, flat spotted everywhere, very horrible to drive... even after resetting the ECU numerous times..

now with the 2.0 ecu installed....

it ticks over perfect.. the throttle response has improved loads, it doesnt flatspot anywhere and the power curve feels really nice and smooth, my exaust now burbles on deceleration, lil pops and bubbles :D like a rally car.. it feels SO much more powerfull, and now it revs to 6,900rpm whereas before it was limited to 6,250rpm !!

i would reccomend to anyone that is running the 130ps cams and TB off the std 115 ECU, go get yourself a mondeo 2.0 non-pats ECU, it makes all the difference.! :D

EEC-V is on 98 onward cars. They're not interchangeable with EEC-IV.

Ryan, bravo, your car is running stock mondeo power ;)

It's really about time people stopped spending so much time and effort swapping these 2 litres in :)

OH!? so just by puttin the 2.0 ecu, cams,TB and maf, im basically running the same power as a 2.0 mondeo?

would there still be an advantage in now putting in the 2.0 lump? cos that was next on me list of things to do.... ??
