Cavalier vs. Road sign (now with pics!!)

My mate (King) and I went out scudding around Kent's icey country lanes last night. Many of them were proper sheet ice!

My mate got a little carried away on a left corner, too fast entry speed, and thus drifted wide, totally broadside and hitting a sign post. A foot more on the road and we would have missed it!

It hit the driver side rear, and spun the car around eventually coming to rest in some metal gates which belong to the water board

Thinking it would just be a hefty knock on the panel, we drove away and parked up about a mile away... only to find the rear bumper missing, and the O/S rear light smashed to smithereens!!

We began walking back up to fetch the rear bumper, but got a but p1ssed off diving into bushes / branches when traffic was coming!!

So drove back up to collect the bumper, fortunately not meeting any traffic, then drove away in search of a streetlight to assist us reattaching the bumper.

We found that cavaliers have some rear panel bolted to the rear of the car, which escorts dont have. This was majorly bent and had been pushed about 3 inches to the left of the car!! Therefore, panel - bumper gaps weren't a selling point!!

Also, the boot lid shuts fine, but the gaps are now out, and there is a larger gap from drivers door to the B-pillar LOL!

I have pics of the offending post, and gates. Will post them tonight :D

Look how the rear bumper was pushed to the left! (check the line between the numberplate light holder and the boot badge!) :drunk:

Fortunately, it's only a sh1tter :thumb:
