Jordan Posted January 29, 2003 Share Posted January 29, 2003 Ok, heres the deal, I got a red Momo Gearknob, Handbrake Handle, and Gear Gaiter and Red Richbrook Handbrake Gaiter. How do I fit them?! I can do the Gear Knob easy but how do you get the bottom of the two gaiters to fit like the originals? The originals are like stapled and secured around the edges so they look neat from the topside, but the new gaiters are elasticated, do I have to just stretch them round?! Also, how the FCUK do you get the original Handbrake Handle off?! Ive tried banging it with a rubber mallet but that dont work at all (Bloody Max Power!) so how do you do it? I kinda gotta get all this done TOMORROW as im driving to Brighton with some people on Friday right after work, then Im not coming back until the early hours of Sunday, then Im straight up to the meet! sorted4 Posted January 29, 2003 Share Posted January 29, 2003 I done this, take the handbrake off i cut it off as it was only way, to fit the gaiters r a pain in the arse, with gear one undo staple soak your in hot water, then then fit it round the plastic ring and if u got a staple gun staple it, hope this helps Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
m888arc Posted January 29, 2003 Share Posted January 29, 2003 yeah , i had a prob with the handbreak surround as it kept working its way up and woz becoming difficult to press teh button in. so i think they just pull/skide off mate. about the gators.............. well when i woz having a little 'play' with my escort i gave the old leather surround a good tug, and it just pulls striaght off fella. the gear stick twists off mate Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Colin Posted January 29, 2003 Share Posted January 29, 2003 Get a hair dryer mate, and heat up the handbrake leaver for a good few minates, then the glue inside it will melt a bit (like bumper stripes etc), and then pull it off, wipe it down and slide on the new one..............
