John Posted February 8, 2003 Share Posted February 8, 2003 i'm getting around 20 mpg out of my gti. to me this seems a bit poor for a standard 1.8 zetec and it is standard as the day it was born. also noticed it seems to get a intermitent missfire at about 3k. my mates gti started doing the same thing as this but he went and sold it before we found out what was wrong with! any clues anyone? Al Posted February 9, 2003 Share Posted February 9, 2003 My Supra can do around 60miles on a £10'er around town,but only if i drive steady.Loads better on a run,which ain't bad on a 3.0l engine i suppose. My 1.8 Si MK6 escort was very good on fuel.Try running some injector cleaner through, like Redex or similar,as this does clear bad spray patterns caused by the injectors clogging up. Al. John Posted February 9, 2003 Author Share Posted February 9, 2003 well guys i have just got back from london and that thing sure does seem better on a long run. averaged about 80 - 90 most the way there and then got stuck in traffic big time on the way back so when the road cleared it sat at anything between 70 - 100 and for 240 miles today the gauge is showing just under half full so i guess it's not so bad after all :madbugger: still misses like an absolute b*stard at around 2800 - 3000 revs though so me thinks it's gonna get some treatment cheers john x: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
