Insurance for the younger driver.

Not too impressed with Adrian flux much the same as the rest,

Anyway, I eventually I got through to direct-line, When I say that, I mean fighting off all the pakkis eventually talking to someone who is from the uk!

I said I wanted to make a complaint and got fired staight to an English speaking office and gave them my "sob story" and told them I didn't like being hung up on and they should't treat people like that.

Surprisingly he agreed and knocked 5% off as a "sorry" gesture so Im now 2nd driver and very happy with my £1250 overall!

Think I am going to pocket the change and buy some nice alloys....

Thanks for all your help,

CP.

Hi there, this probably won't make a great deal of difference but my first car at 17 was 1.6 ghia. I went through tesco at 850 quid. They put the price up on mine a bit just because it was a ghia ( for some stupid reason).

I am still with tesco now but I've payed 1180 this last year, because I was broken into-and got three points whithin my first year.

I suggest you give them a try for your first year, but certainly don't renew with them.

I'm, going for adrian flux or admiral/bell as they have quoted between 550 and 650 for this year.

(it might be woth trying those too)

(sorry ignore that, I've just read the part where you've got a price lol, sowwy  )

Best i have been quoted so far is about £2800 ;( if only i was female it would be cheaper :( but im determined for this 1.8si to be my first car so might aswell break the bank :D thats with eCar.

cant believe anyone would spend that much just on insurance each year, thats 3 escort GTi's you are throwing away each year in money just to drive your Si,

I have to say, I would definatley save that and just not drive for two years. Save the money and put it towards an st170. Get yourself on your parents car. Or just buy a 1.1 fiesta. you only need to do speed limits after all. Cant afford to get points! my 1.6 escort was 800 when I was 18.

On another note though. Cant you get insurance where you only pay for when you use it? Dont use it much and it will be cheaper.

I remember with my second escort i wanted to put Rs Skirts and Spats on it - when i phoned my insurance company they said that as it looked an Rs they had to charge me to insure it as an Rs! I was raging to say the least and didnt bother!

That would be considerably Cheaper but, If I have to drive 30miles to get my shopping with a shi* bus company (They call themselves "Zet-trans" enough said!) Not really an option for me I am afraid.

I have had the car since I was 16 and have undone every nut, bolt, screw (ect) and replaced them with stainless steel ones (costing me alot of money!)

I even spend money on 98ron fuel and facy oil. (costing me even more Money!!!!).

If that is every nut and bolt and screw i wouldn't insure you at all...

You are just wasting money using 98ron fuel

PSML at people paying 2.4k to insure a 1.6!!! You could prob buy 6 base escorts for that price!

I paid £800 at 17! 0 ncb! That was in my own name! (was £1050.xxp but I added my dad as a named driver and they knocked £250 off it! Added the chick as a learner for £16)
