GHanson2009
PM'd (About Window Mech) Todays progress (And boy is it a milestone)... The donor car is now ready to be taken away tommorow (Provided we can find someone to take it away tommorow). Removed in the past 24 Hours... - Dash & Interior Wiring Loom - Doors - Windows And finally the major milestone we got the engine out in one peice Thanks for the pre-advice guys that you cant take it out through the top of the car :@ lol so we dropped it to the floor, then we hooked the winch on the front of the car & jacked it right up in the air and pulled the engine out from below Sorry for the quality of this pic, believe it or not i was falling over flat on my arse as i hit the pic button... Then forgot to re-take it...http://fordfenatic.com/red2/new_engine.jpg And here's the sorry & broken 130 Si Shell thats going to scrap if you want anything SAY NOW!!! almost everything left on the shell you can have for 20 L&B including the shell if you wanna come & take it!http://fordfenatic.com/red2/donor_dead.jpg Next Friday we are planning on stripping the front end of my car and getting it prepared for the re-fitting of the 130 Engine I am like a kid at christmas because...1) I've never had a car that powerfull + i have a supercharger conversion planned (I still have an eaton supercharger that i bought to fit to my old Astra )2) My clutch is so very tired now and is really just going to give up soon. Over the course of the next week (Monday - Friday) I'm going to be doing smaller jobs, fitting front shocks off the donor car until my new ones arrive, (When that will be nobody knows) So until next weekend stay tuned for: - Fitting of dashboard cluster (Si White Dials) - Fitting of 130 ECU / Key Modules & Door Locks - Replacing Clutch, Timing Belt & Cleaning up the new lump - Removing Bonnet / Bumper / Grille / Headlights from mine - Removing the poorly 1.6 Zetec engine Then until next weekend its a WOOHOO! I'l be demonstrating my statistics on the Dyno... Last week with my broken clutch, 1.6 103k Miles Zetec it only pulled off 77bhp so with abit of luck i should get closer to 140bhp when my exhaust system, manifold, de-cat, induction Kit, 130 Engine & some light tuning (Ported inlet, Ported TB's). Stay Tuned Edited September 6, 2009 by GHanson2009
GHanson2009
Going upto the garage tommorow to be 100% sure everything is removed from the cabby then its away it goes to scrap, Then the work will begin on the above cabby for the engine conversion. Plan of Action... Friday:Strip out the engine bay, remove the engine & all under-bonnet ancils, then get the under bonnet painted black Saturday:Prepare everything for re-fitting, Drop the 130 Engine into place & get the mounts bolted up. Sunday:Re-Wire / Re-Fit everything onto the zetec,Install the 130 ECU / Ignition / Locks & PATS TransponderTurn they key... Smile ALOT!
GHanson2009
Ok this weekends plans were soiled Theres no way the engine will go in this weekend, which is a real pain in the ass! but needs must... onwards 'n' upwards... A whole load of new parts arrived today - RS2k Rear Bumper with Spats - RS2k Side Skirts - GTI Fogged Front bumper - Lower mk5 Cosworth front Splitter - 2 Sets of Mk6 Fog Lights (A pair for each Cab) New Parts:http://fordfenatic.com/red2/10-09-09/10092009065.jpghttp://fordfenatic.com/red2/10-09-09/10092009066.jpghttp://fordfenatic.com/red2/10-09-09/10092009067.jpg So i decided to start working on my front bumper today whilst i waited for more parcels to arrive, The mk5 Cossie lower bib isn't even a close match to the mk6 bumper so some MAJOR modification is required but it will be somewhat unique in comparison to most others ive seen Progress:http://fordfenatic.com/red2/10-09-09/10092009068.jpghttp://fordfenatic.com/red2/10-09-09/10092009069.jpghttp://fordfenatic.com/red2/10-09-09/10092009070.jpghttp://fordfenatic.com/red2/10-09-09/10092009071.jpg And then when i realised i had no fiberglass crap left from my last build... just a big empty tin in the shed Major pee'ved off lol so i turned to my brake calipers And just a note (to people who paint calipers) DONT F*cking do it! lol Anyway... Stripped down to nothing and into the dishwasher to de-grease and de-dust... http://fordfenatic.com/red2/10-09-09/10092009072.jpg Then from about 3mm thick bright red hammerite paint that was all over fooking everything i got the tools out and ended up with this... http://fordfenatic.com/red2/10-09-09/10092009073.jpg Bit more polishing todo but i think i've decided now that they are going to be kept "Mill Finished" and "Laquered" to protect them and to keep them from going back to the dishwasher pic now... Post with your critisism! lol

GHanson2009
Ok small update today...I was driving along today, just outside the street i lost all my braking abilities! I absolutely crapped myself, missed a bus by a few meters, bounced off a kerb and damaged my wheel... Im so lucky to be alive! it could have been MUCH worse! anyway i noticed when i stopped there was a HUGE puddle under the car... a quick sniff and my worst nightmares come true! the b*stard brake lines have gone! it had actually burst! so not only was i lucky that i had missed the bus etc... i also had a load of spare copper hose, so a snip half way down and replaced the damaged part as a temporary measure until i get some more copper hose Anyway heres the damaged pipe...http://fordfenatic.com/red2/13092009075.jpg That tincy little hole managed to empty my entire resiviour of fluid in the time it took to find it (about 2mins!) Anyway.. onward & upwards i got the 260mm Disks & RS2k Calipers fitted, sorry about the pic i was taking a pic of my damaged alloy from the mornings events, will get better ones soon! Well atleast now i have the stopping power to cope with the new engine http://fordfenatic.com/red2/13092009076.jpg

GHanson2009
Well yeah exactly, The car has just passed an MOT.. so im going to sort the MOT slip out and report both the garage i bought the car from and the MOT Station to VOSA because since ive owned the car i've found the following DEFINATE MOT Failures... - Battery tray is so rotten the battery can freely fall into the inner wing - Both rear wheel hubs didnt work AT ALL, Handbreak didnt work at all! - The 2 Drivers side shocks were so badly damaged leaking significantly LOTS! - The front brake disks have cracks & warps. - And all of the brake lines are corroded, and where this one was it was obviously easily spotted by an MOT inspector. I'm not willing to let this slide, I've virtually re-placed the under side of the car now anyway so it doesn't really matter to me i know all "Major" parts are safe. So im going to get it booked in for a new LEGIT MOT Inspection. And i hope the VOSA revolk the testers license as this isn't your average "little thing" being slid this is a seriously dangerous bent MOT!. Just for the information of anybody in Telford/or even interested in knowing the garage NOT to buy from it's called "Dream Car Sales" and this is them (Clicky). I will also update with the name of the MOT Station. lucky there fella, very lucky. least its only a wheel, not a leg or a life! Well i'm not to fussed about the wheels, I've got new ones and ive also got a spare GTI Wheel so i can still sell them as a Set of
