You can't slate someone in a thread and not allow them to explain themselves. He also didn't call you a liar, he said there was nothing wrong with the springs, as he explained, they are as he bought them and they passed an MOT.

I don't think bad mouthing the seller was fair when, unsurprisingly, the 12year old car that you bought for £400 has a few problems :glare:

Tend to agree with Dan here. If it passes the mot im sure i wouldnt be aware of a problem myself. Also you said either way you got a bargain so this should be the end of it.

Well... Todays made some MAJOR progress!

Got up and down the garage for 8am this morning, Got the front end off the cabby :)

http://www.fordfenatic.com/red2/26-09-09/26092009132.jpg

Then after a fair few more hours the engine is now out, Found out what everyone meant about the subframe being different on the MTX75 to the IB5 :( So went and bought myself a new Valleo Clutch Kit too and il be using the IB5 Gearbox until i source a reconditioned / brand new subframe :).

Anyway spent all day until about 3:30pm up at the garage then went down to the yard for a while todo some work on the bumper again :) Sanded a load more filler & gave it a VERY quick coat of gloss white paint to show up the high's & lows... its amazing how much you miss without doing this stage!

So heres a few pics of that:

I thought id get the middle of the bumper being the hardest part perfect before bothering with the outside edges as those are having something a little more "Special" added on to make them unique... but you can see the front bumper is making rapid progress :)

Todo Tommorow:

- Fit new Clutch Kit, Fly Wheel & IB5 Gearbox to the 1.8 130 Engine

- Fit the 130 Engine to the Cabby & get it all bolted up

- Fit the Hoses, Wiring & Electrics to the engine and fire her up :)

If we get this far...

- Swap my 1.6 ECU for the 1.8 130PS ECU

- Swap All locks & ignition from the donor car

- Swap Transponder etc

- Fire her up again :)

If im REALLY having a good day...

- Fit my new Fiesta/Puma White Digital Dials from Mr Matty that arrived this morning :) (Thanks for that!)

Enjoy! and Look forward to seeing a running Video of the 1.8 Tommorow :)

all in one day eh?

Why not?

The Clutch takes 10/20mins to change as the engine is out & on the floor, :S

The engine is ready to bolt up, shouldnt take much longer than an hour.

The rest of the day will be for wiring/piping etc.

That bumper is starting to take shape nicely :thumb:

Thanks :) its taking alot of work lol but it's a labour of love :) one step at a time :)

Wow, Inspiring words there ganges :) This is the kinda thing that gets me through days like today! (See below).

Anyway no i've never worked in a garage / body shop / auto sales or in any form of mechanical qualification, everything i know i've learned from my now disabled dad or taught myself, trial & error :) lol. Built a few cars in the past and swapped engine or engine before but never done a conversion :) Really enjoying this one!

So here's my update for today...

Part 1: Rant!

Whoever said that an IB5 Gearbox will fit a 130 Zetec Engine is talking out of there rear end! It physically cannot fit! and just to prove it... heres photo's of the two i took appart side by side this morning!

1.6 Zetec With IB5 Gearbox (Old Engine)

The starter motor is on the back of the engine block (Below the inlet manifold).

1.8 Zetec 130 With MTX75 Gearbox (New Engine)

The starter motor is on the FRONT of the engine, the engine block isn't drilled NOR shaped to take a starter moater at the rear, and the IB5 Gearbox doesn't have a position to take the starter on the back of the engine block.

Proof Pic:

So don't try and tell me im wrong again! lol but none the less. it ended up costing me £142 + VAT for a new Clutch Kit (AGAIN) this morning, so got that, slapped it in, fitted the MTX75 Gearbox and it all sits back togeather perfectly! :)

Part 2: The Progress

Got the engine bay prepared and pushed the shell out of the garage so we could do the clutch work. Empty Cabby: :)

http://www.fordfenatic.com/red2/27-09-09/27092009140.jpg

Then the afternoon was where the REAL work come into play! so no pics sorry guys but i've been going flat out, because of all the rubish i was told about fitting i had chopped wires i evidently ended up NEEDing! so it took me hours of extra pissing about etc.

Anyway, after much deliberation and shoe horning i have successfully got my Zetec 1.8 130PS AND my MTX75 Gearbox sitting PERFECTLY with Hubs & Drive Shafts fitted, Electricals all wired up, and resivoir bottles back in place & plumbed up :) Not had a chance to fire her up yet as we still have some more pipes/cables to sort out, install clutch cable, MTX Gearstick/linkages and then we will turn the magical key!

If i remember il video our first key turn :) And show you all how excellent i am! lol

Tommorows Jobs:

- Goto the Dentist :( BOOO!

- Fit MTX75 Gearstick & Linkages

- Re-Fit Downpipe & Cat to Exhaust System

- Re-Fit Radiator & Water Hoses

- Re-Fit Ford Flat Plug Battery (Some arse had cut them off & fitted Lugs!)

- Re-Fill all resivoirs, water, PAS, Brakes etc

- Turn the Key and HOPE it starts first time (On Video if i Remember).

Thats all folks! Now... Enjoy! :)
