John
so my GTi comes with a 6yr anti corrosion warranty right? well yes but only if the little nazi pen pusher at ford hq decides it counts today! my problem is: around the o/s mount of the rear spoiler could see a small blister in the paint, went to fords they said didn't look bad enough as it was so i should take the spoiler off and see how it is underneath. so yesterday i took it off, the tail gate is rusty as fcuk! under every mount of the spoiler it's blistering and rusting really badly. sends it to local ford dealer again today for them to look at. warranty manager says yep it's a problem caused by build and nothing else, takes pictures sends them to ford HQ, little nazi b*stard at ford says NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. whats the point in having a warranty on it if they aren't going to honor it?! so basicly this is another problem that i'm going to have to sort out off my own back and out of my own wallet it's going in hopefully at the end of the month so i figured while its there they might as well colour code the door handles for me i'm thinking about only putting the ford badge back on the tailgate and leaving the escort and 16v badges off. hmmmm anyway rant over now, just pissed me off so needed to get it off my chest! 98gt
I have the same problem!! Rust blister under the left side mount of the rear spoiler, it's also starting to blister around the rear wiper arm mount I didn't know Escorts had a six year anti-corrosion warranty - I'll have to look into it, although dealers in Ireland are shite! MILLSYS GTi
Try and phone 0845 8411111 that is Ford Customer Liasons, they may be able to help you or maybe give you an authorisation no. for a goodwill percentage.
Crumpy
Ive sent my Escort back many times with problems with the paint work, little bits of rust, blistering etc and everytime its been booked in with no fuss and its been done. I would push for it. Get a lit bit more nasty with them, ask to see the top bloke, threaten to take them to the papers or trading standards. John
well i've kinda got a result out of them but not really ford more the ford dealer i took it back to. as i'm sure i've mentioned before my uncle is a sprayer at the local ford dealers, the best they can come up with is they supply the paint etc FOC but the only catch is we have to do the work. so i guess it's better than nothing and i really can't be bothered to keep fighting for warranty matters with this car anymore! Waxmonkey
why not sell the new car and get either a really old car - all the warranty work will probably have been done on a 1983 Austin Metro City. alternatively, get a car made in the future, cos they fly and the problems are yet to occur because the car has yet to be built, so the car cannot have any problems - dead easy really. Pete
Had a similar thing with mine last year, bubbling just above the number plate strip with the lock in it. Ended up paying for it myself But now its starting to come back so I need to dig out the invoice and check how long the guarantee was for
