Motherboard/CPU buzzing

well i have checked and no caps appear to be damaged :(

could they still be faulty if they don't look damaged?

its possible, but like i said before, i doubt that its a dead capacitor issue. sounds like a really weird problem, are you definately sure its not a bearing on your fan? either that or the fan making the cpu socket vibrate?

its not the fan, the fans are perfectly silent

i have had all the fans plugged out, still does the noise

i have changed ram still does the noise

ive cleaned the cpu socket,

ive had the pc apart with the power pack at a distance to see if it was that, but it wasnt

the noise comes form the cpu area, it is nothing else at all

and its making me want to commit suicide because it is very irritating lol

when the cpu is working to load something it doesnt do the noise

its seems to be now when the cpu is idle it does it

Shouldn't it be the other way round.*

not necessarily, if its a resonation issue then the buzzing might be made when its sitting at idling resonant frequency, nothing to do with the amount of load its taking on.

maybe your socket isnt clamping the cpu down properly then? have you had the processor out, and then re-clamped it back in its socket to check its sat correctly?

yes i have done this a number of time, also tried 2 different heatsinks, still the same

the cpu powered the 2nd motherbaord i had fine as well, and all the parts on this motherboard now where used on the 2nd motherboard and that setup didn't buzz lol

could thermal paste be a problem? i can't see it being a problem

You could solve all your problems... and buy a mac :thumb:

mac's don't suit me lol

i doubt itd be the thermal paste if you removed the fan and it was still buzzing. only other thing i can think itd be then is the socket itself. turn the motherboard over and check that all the pins are soldered properly and you dont have any dry joints. Either that or the cpu clamp itself is buggered. (out of the 2, id say the second idea is more likely).
