Squav
Hi, I have an Acer Aspire One on the Linux system. I wondered if it would be possible to load XP or Vista onto it instead? I don't have an external CD/DVD drive so that could pose as a problem, as they don't have it built in Cheers
dutchkev
unless you can get a genuine copy of XP onto a USB drive then your stuck bud, i wouldnt even consider putting vista onto the little notebooks

dutchkev
yeah, but im not 100% sure on weather you could boot xp from the HDD rather that wipe the notebook completely, might be an easier option?

hamspeed
Yeah... Then you should just be able to boot from the CD (If you have one of course!)

Squav
Yeah... Then you should just be able to boot from the CD (If you have one of course!) Yeah I've got one. It's all very confusing to me. If anyone knows someone who's done it, or could put me a little guide together that would be great
hamspeed
In theory its possible... Basically your formatting the notebook to remove everything, copying your Window's cd onto a flash memory stick so its bootable and installing XP... Its not as easy as it sounds so if your not confident in doing it then I wouldn't bother... Technology eh Heres a good guide on youtube: Edited February 11, 2009 by hamspeed
AndyPearce
Don't delete the linux OS just make a partition and dual boot into XP or whatever, Linux is a very useful OS. You may need it one day...

It's better to just run a linux vm if you need it for some bizarre reason. It's not that useful when you know how to use Windows properly.

I'm not as keen on linux as windows from the experience I've had with it.
bluliz
If you wanted a windows one...the Asus eeePC 901 series would have been far better for you. I have Linux on mine...and there is no issue doing any of the tasks that these are designed for doing, IE Internet, Word Processing.
Squav
The only thing that does annoy me with the linux is MSN. I have a lot of contacts, I think that's the problem. It just f**** up and disconnects all the time and contacts are dodgy. Is there a way of getting official MSN live messenger on Linux?
