eetaylog
The Acer Revo is pretty cheap. its not bad, but id have the price of the lcd screen on top. i could probably knock up something similar to the revo for under £100 in a less fancy enclosure. stoo2000
I've still got all my stuff in boxes that I bought for the orion, before alot of the fancy stuff was easily available in the UK. I've got a DC-DC PSU, and I've also got a fancy bit of chippery that you link to the ignitiion that boots your pc up when you start the car, and switches it off when you turn the car off. what specs did your kit have? im guessing it was before the days of the Intel Atom CPU? was your PSU a miniATX?Via Epia 1000m with a Xenarc 700TSV which was something silly like $500 The PSU is a specialist designed unit for in a car, it's basically a circuit board that clips straight onto the motherboard power connector. PeeWee
Depending what you want it for, many gps units can be used as a multimedia. Unless you specificaly want internet (although internet is also possible) then this is great. I have a mio widescreen that i bought new on ebay. I have multiple gps including tomtom, igo8, navman (basicaly what you want). Media players for divx, mp3 players, picture viewers, bluetooth, sat nav, ppc games, office. They run windows 5 portable & just need unlocking (easy & safe if you use the sd hacks). Its portable & safe olus neat & slim with no bulk at all.Take a look.http://www.gpspassion.com/upload2/VistaUltimate.jpghttp://www.gpspassion.com/upload2/VistaAurora.jpghttp://www.gpspassion.com/upload2/GSTheme-Vista_small.jpg

The one i pictured is it, its a gps unit hacked to run windows5, no other hardware required, wisescreen & hardware all in one & can be fitted into a dash easily. Boots faster than a pc yes. Just choose your size of memory card.
stoo2000
If I have the cash when I come to look at mine again I'll probably swap the motherbaord for something alot newer, and go with an SSD or something, and Windows 7 with multi-touch
