karl Posted September 27, 2009 Share Posted September 27, 2009 because if the base coat has a "gloss" finish, once it dries properly, the surface will be to smooth for the clear to key too and cause flaking at a later date... so if you dont leave it too long, the gloss base will still have a slight tack to it. if its normal matt finish base coat, it dont matter too much.
