What wud happen if i left it and didnt sand and polish as it looks nice as it is and diffrent? as matte type finish u can leave it but there no protection u can get matte laquer iv laqued it and like the finish i dont wanna wetsand it to make it smooth but wud like to polish/wax it up its this posible and how wud i do it? You didnt take any advice with the compressor - so why ask for advice and follow it now? the compressor was adviced it wud do the job if i toke care and time....when i asked at the paint shop about the compressors they said the 50 wud do the job just go slow...so i am following advice! there aint no paint shop that I know would 'advice a 50 litre compressor' for painting a car If they did, then they would be just waiting for you to go back for some more paint But - hats off to you for having a go, cos there is a lot off here that talk about it, but dont go through with it If I had known you were serious about painting ya car ya could have borrowed my compressor How many runs did ya get in it? Cosworth909
ive been told never sand the paint. if its mettalic. put lots of lacer of then use 1500 - 2000 wet n dry to get a smooth surface mop up with g3 bobs ya uncle LOL hu told ya that?u can sand metalic paint... 400-500 wet.. and then spray a dust coat over then the base coat than u can laquer of it... if u get drip in laquer how will u fix it? and make sure u dont leave applying the laquer to late... tbh 400 or 500 grit would leave marks in the paint or filler if used, its way too course to prep a car, 1200 or 1500 would be much better to prep for painti use 80 grit on filler then 2k primer.....then 800 the primer.... if its being paintin different colour 500 is fine never had a problem never had any prep marks..... i can c this paintjob coming out rubbish..... u gonna paint and u never dne b4 also u done a front bumper painted but not laquered that u now have to do again and i bet u done no how to flat n polish the paint after Great help you are then, nothing like give the guy a bit of encouragement eh!Hats off to him, he is learning & by the looks of it coming along ok.I painted without doing so before & was commended on my finished work so nothing wrong there from what i see? Also could you take a bit of time to write in non text talk as it makes it rather hard to understand what your saying otherwise. to be quite honest with u reaper u the way u do it is crap u dnt need to do all the things u do all i would do is flat the panel ur gonna paint coat of primer on bare metal a nice coat of paint on then leave to tack of for 5-10mins then go back and put my second coat on then look at panel if ur happy that hole panel is coverd remember u dnt need a shine ur laquering cause thats wat the laquer will do obv make sure that there isnt runs and its not orange peely then laquer away no need to flat ur paint b4 laquer who ever told u that was bull shitting and if u just 80 then 2k primer it will show up scratchs so dnt talk aload of crap and i no all this first hand as i pick my monthly wage up from a bodyshop where i prep and paint cars daily
