caled
After googling around about that advent laptop, there are a lot of reports about it only having 1 slot, though nothing particularly definitive.
Gadge
Its possible that another slot is located under the keyboard. http://www.lavalys.com/ do some very nice software that is able to tell you all the specifications of your system. Although its not free there are trials available.
wwwd
Anyway, I've checked my laptop and it seems to have 2 slots. Can anyone provide a link with compatible RAM I could buy? And cheap as possible obviously

sidrick
Let me know what you end up needing. I have a 512mb stick you could have for fcuk all, as it'd only cost me the price of a stamp to send and I have no need for it. dutchkev
you can get a samsung gig ram stick on ebay for circa £10 iirc Edited October 29, 2009 by dutchkev
trickydicky
Don't trust eBay for RAM. IT often means you buy high density RAM which will not work on your laptop.DDR is expensive now because it is old.Out of the bunch I'd go for this one: 1GB Crucial PC2700 Stick
Gadge
Your best bet is to find someone that's stripping down an old system. Ebay usually as people selling several sticks of used ram. Thought about getting a new laptop? all the offers are going to start rolling in now Xmas is on its way...The Dell XPS series for example as just dropped £300 (its completely pissed my mate off that just got one). wwwd
for £25 what are you waiting for? Well it's around £35 and we'd only be selling the laptop for around £70 anyway...
