rachyxx
Ive thought about purchasing some 17" alloys but it seems with the car being dropped 40mm when i hit a bump a bit hard the 15s on the car are catching the wheel arch so dont want to purchase the 17 then put them on and they start to rub ,ANY IDEAS ,the tyres on the gti alloys are 195/50/15 on the front
PeeWee
It will be the offset incorrect, 17's would be ok with the right escort offset.Moved to the correct section.

karl
mines -40mm with 17. and no probs, at all. either the offset is wrong, or its got seriously big tyres on.
shawdreamer
17" with 195/215-r45/r50 on the correct ford offset shouldnt catch or rub at all on a 40mm drop, the rare ones that do can be sorted with a pair of 5mm spacers up front. if your 15's are catching now Id have to suspect the offset of your current alloys or your suspension is well and truely screwed
kevscort15
the alloys has got 205/40/17 tres on and was fitted to a mk6/7 escort so i dont think there shouldbe a problem 17" with 195/215-r45/r50 on the correct ford offset shouldnt catch or rub at all on a 40mm drop, the rare ones that do can be sorted with a pair of 5mm spacers up front. if your 15's are catching now Id have to suspect the offset of your current alloys or your suspension is well and truely screwedsorry but my suspension cant be screwed as got receipt for the 40mm kit ,which was done professionally ,aint no bodge job
