EscortNreg
Right, i tried insulating the ceramic heater, i moved it, i put the prode directly under it and still no joy, so now the ceramic heater and dimming stat are gone (now on ebay) and thanks to 88 i now have a mat and mat stat in there. the viv is now complete.. During the day i have white and green LED's running, the green light shines through the weed and makes it look good and the white light just iluminates the rest of the viv... these light run from 10 am till 7pm then from 7pm till 11pm i have red moonlight LED's all running off timers so its all runnin gthe same times each day and giving him 11 hours of black out. The viv now has a exo terra rocky background, vines, weed and several hides with water bowles. Even if i do say so myselfe, its looking SWEET! Will get pics up hopefully this evening

88-XR3i
I got a couple of pictures over the weekend, and just for some of you who wanted to see it, I have got the Honda Badge that my steve has in his markings Here is the H badge: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y41/VtecCRX/Photo0062.jpg Here is another of him wrapped round my mates arm: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y41/VtecCRX/Photo0065.jpg And this is an idea of the length of him...Bearing in mind my mate is about 6ft tall, but sitting down: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y41/VtecCRX/Photo0067.jpg His colouring is normally alot better than this, but he is coming up for shed, I reckon within a week or so
KNITERIDER
looking good mate mines due a shed anyday now too. been a pain with feeding as well! wouldnt feed for over a month, tried alsorts, she never usually strikes but she was in defence mode rather than eat mode when i had it in some big tweezers, finally got her eating by putting a big hide in her viv putting the rat in the hide then putting her in the hids and leaving overnight, she gets more shy with eating everytime! lol all good now, also had a regurge off my corn a week or so back bloody critters! he's now being starved for 2 weeks then going onto the tiniest pinkys you have seen for 3 weeks before going onto sinel rat pups for 3 weeks then move him upto fluffs. 88, did you say you keep turtles? if so which ones as im getting some musk turtles in next few days but need to perfect my setup first. 88-XR3i
I have 3 yellow bellied sliders, easy to set up! And great creatures! Any idea on why it regurged? Not a great thing to happen, sometimes things are ok, other times they kill themselves doing it! What snake is it not eating? If your worried, and never owned a royal, then when it comes to going off food, you will stress big time! Mine went off food for a year nearly! KNITERIDER
it was my boa that was being a pain in the neck seems to be feeding now tho. to be honest i think it was my own fault him regurging as the rat pups were a tadge to big. i usually have him on a month of single then one week he has two so i just think i over did it, he kept one down just not the other. 88-XR3i
from what I know, its best to stick with 1 a week, then give him larger and larger as he grows If you get any major issues, then gimme a shout...a mate of mine deals with sick or problem snakes, plus he rehomes if your after a certain snake, he takes them on as a non feeder, sorts them, then sells them on other times he takes them, sorts them out for you, then you get them back As for your turtles, check out http://www.turtleforum.com/forum/upload/index.php?act=idx
KNITERIDER
cheers, im pretty sure he's fine tho, will see when it comes to feeding. little trick iv picked up for snakes who like to regurge: cover them (the food) in KY jelly then they cant puke it back up i just think mine had eyes bigger than his belly tho lol
88-XR3i
most snakes are! Mainly because they are chance feeders naturally where they can go for weeks in between food *warning...graphic detail, if a wimp, dont read on* I found, when my royal starts being picky, i defrost the rat, then get my large tongs and break its nose, this then lets out more scent and my royal goes ape and rips it outta my hand!!! Before I started foing this, he used to only eat if I placed the rat at the front of his hide and left him to it, but now I can remove the hide, and just dangle the rat and he strikes normally straight away! KNITERIDER
how do you go about breaking its nose? iv tried braining a rat (shoved a skewer through its ear and our the other side so it goes through the skull but all i got was a stinking bedroom when it was still there in the morning. 88-XR3i
all I do, is once its fully defrosted, get the tweezers or tongs, which ever you use/call them, and lay the rat on its side, then place the tweezers either side of its nose and squeeze...you should hear a crack, and some of the skin may peel back...no smell to us really, and perfect for them! KNITERIDER
il give it a try, but to be honest as long as she feeds i dont care how! lol be nice if she struck and constricted tho i must admit!
88-XR3i
my roal is mental now since I tried that, it seems to have triggered his feeding strike since I did....Its a case of dangle it there, and bang...GONE! he has his mouth wrapped around the snake squeezing away, then searches for the head and thats him happy for a while
KNITERIDER
il deffo try it nextfeed what heating/uv do you use for your turtles? as the forums are being there usual selfs and contradicting eachother links would be great. i was gonna use a combi uvb/heat lamp but been advised against this for hatchlings so was told to look for a uvb light AND a basking light. what i need tho is LINKS to the bulbs AND holders so i can order them and get them set up for the end of the week (tanks been running two days now (empty)
88-XR3i
I dont know the best set up for musks, not sure if they are much different from the YBS that I have, but that site is the best for info, I used that over RFUK for my info as the shelled part of RFUK is a bit bitchy for my liking I will see what info I can find and get them to you later on today if I can
